| I've a bunch of covers I'm going to put up on eBay. I reckon that the values are somewhere in the £10 - £30 mark but who knows? | I think this is all getting rather muddled. One debate is about the merits or otherwise of grading. The other is about what grading means. Here's what the dictionary says about grading: "a degree or step in a scale, as of rank, advancement, quality, value, or intensity". Not sure how that ... |

Is it only US stamps that get graded? What does a collector who follows the graded system do when they want to branch out beyond the shores of the US?

That's useful to know.
If I was the recipient, I'd much rather receive an envelope using current postage, perhaps giving me an interesting, genuinely used commercial cover as a bonus to my order.
Maybe the meter label users are being overly precautious...? |

| If unmounted's your thing then I wouldn't get put off by avoiding GVI high values. It's eminently doable and regumming is nowhere near as prevalent as it is for the earlier reigns. Any tips on how to resize photos in Photobucket so that they can be pasted on the board?
I upload using the preferred 800 x 600 file size yet my images remain at their original (larger) size and so get rejected by the board.

| If you're buying for investment I'd also consider focusing on centring. New collectors may well apply a different set of standards to today's collectors and centring (particularly on pictorials) has the potential to add increased value. Not the ridiculous extent that grading has got too in the State... |

Unfortunately no. As per my initial post I'm still looking for one good example.
You'll find a picture of the issue in any relevant SG catalogue at the back of the Australia section or under New Guinea 1-13, Type A1, if you're using Scott. |

Never sen that before. I can only assume that they've been mishandled in some way in the past. I'd just get the dealer you bought them from to swop them for a new packet.
