Totally missing colours or well offset colours are the one's that count with decimals. Minor colour changes as mentioned above are unfortunately of no consequence.

The first allocation of the 38 numeral was Barcoo. After 1869 it was reallocated to Blackall and is rated RRR on a Chalon.

Normally the high values very used fiscally so are more often seen with cancels cleaned off.

'Damaged E in Penny' seems a low level description for your example. 'Missing E in Penny' would be more appropriate :idea: Seriously, it seems unusual for an inking flaw to just affect one letter so dramatically and leave adjacent one's intact. Perhaps an issue with the E in the overprinting forme :?:

Favorite exhibit is too hard to pick for me. I could name 20 or more and each was great in a different way.

One of them has already been mentioned above (Arthur's Bird Definitives). The original artists proofs were incredible.

You could see the anxiety and apprehension on Committee members faces a day or so out from the Expo, but that soon faded after the opening day and their smiles just got bigger as the Expo continued. A resounding success for all involved including Australia Post, other sponsors, Patrons & Support...

This almost qualifies as a collection.

For a short time before he sold them at his auction house, Christoph Gärtner in Germany had around 6 long containers worth of stamps and covers. Must have been millions of stamps in that lot :!:

Those are the cross rates, unfortunately you have to then deduct the exchange fees from whomever you are dealing with. If from an ATM you have that fee as well (though it is low).

The Tapling Collection on show there was brilliant plus a seminar on forgeries that I attended.

I was there late one day and David Beech was standing around and asked if I wanted to look at the Tapling Collection......could not say no to a guided tour from the expert 8)

I use the latest version of Word for exhibit page creation simply because I've used it for years now and know the plus and minus issues with it for this particular application. I understand Publisher is far better and that many exhibitors use it. Just haven't tried it yet but I will, perhaps for the...

Did a test run on an Android mobile, an iPhone 5 mobile and an iPad. Works well on all of them, so congrats to those involved in getting it up and running.

This is certainly the way of the future for large exhibitions.

The % of sellers that would scan on eBay at 2400dpi would be absolutely tiny. Image size would be huge and no real gain for sellers or buyers.

I always scan at 600dpi here or on eBay. Sometimes at 1200dpi for something like a flyspeck flaw. Minimum side dimension ever would be around 600 pixels.

Even then I get the warning on ebay that the image isn't at the recommended size :roll:

I never hire cars from small "el cheapo" rental companies for the very reason expressed in the OP. A case in point was last year when we were in Cairns. Picked up the car from a rental agency at the airport but, before I signed it off and picked up the keys, I checked right around the car ...

Yes, the top of the "2d" is worn away more than mine so a later state for sure. Nice CDS cancel clear of the frame break, better than my parcel cancel. Still at least mine is lighter than most parcel strikes, some of them can be horrendous particularly those done at Melbourne for some reas...

The ATO would never send something like that via email, they would never use the word "fiscal" and I doubt they would say "AUD" for the currency. All pretty obvious to anyone with the slightest level of intelligence. Then again, the world is full of idiots just waiting for scamme...

He's an expert in KGV sidefaces, particularly the shades so a good choice.

Re: drying book. Funny thing was last week the guy in the stamp supplies store talked me out of buying one, saying blotting paper and some heavy books was just as good and much cheaper. You will also encounter the rosette w/mark on early issues of several other countries such as Zanzibar. This is because De La Rue used the same w/mark paper from the Turner mills as they did for the Lakatoi issues of BNG.

The vertical w/mark is showing up best on the right hand stamp, left most rosette.

These are pretty clear w/marks, some thicker paper issues can be difficult to tell if they are w/mark vertical or horizontal.
