| Nice example Tony. The Wide/Wide example is the scarcest of the lot and commands an extra premium (what ever that may be). Getting the series together (i.e. all denominations and all combinations of perf) in vertical strips both UHM and VFU is the challenge :wink: VFU vertical strips being the most ... |

Just be aware Brian that sometimes the perf gap can be WIDER than normal as well as closer, OK.
Keep a good look out for the 8d as VFU. (cat NZ$35)

| Morgan One of the best investments for doing this kind of study/research is a digital microscope. Have a look around Stampboards (use the search facility) and you will soon find a couple of sources for them. | Hi, I just looked at my 4 examples and the top right one has the broken curl and an ink line in the margin near the right 1d. The others all look normal. I also put the older 1d at the bottom as I can't work out if it has multiple frame breaks or is just a washed out copy, which it probably is. :D ... |

Ahhh Damn just realised it is a 1d invert and not another 4d invert. Stuffed up there !! Ahh well I will just have to pass it off as a newly discovered item after 100+ years and raise the asking price to $500,000 instead.

Yes the DIE proofs are singles and I have a few in various colours (mostly black)

The Black ones I have on card and heavy paper are Plate Proofs.
I have a number of RED ones which were DIE proofs. |

| Yes the various flaws did show on the die proofs. I have them in black and red (various shades), and then on card, paper, gummed paper, imperf and perfed. There are quite a few "proofs" out there, some are faked most are genuine. Many proofs however get passed off as being imperf stamps. C... |
