Given the stamp, I'm more inclined to believe the "60" refers to its first allocation to Launceston.

Sorry, can't help with SG numbers. From memory, this should only have been issued with a large star watermark?

If you mean the "horizontal line" about 2/3rds the way down the stamp, that's a crease/fold in the paper. http://i692.photobucket.com/albums/vv284/mcgooley/stampboard/halflength.jpg I was referring to the line indicated by the arrow. Half Lengths are very complex, and unless you are using...

The frame line (shown on the left) didn't show up until the third printing?

The cancel is kosher; it's the first type of Geelong's BN '2' which started work in 1856. Given Geelong was a fairly busy office, I'm more inclined to go with the third state which ran from 1851 to 1854.

Just my two cents.

Yes, Tony, this one will be a 'numerals' exhibit. After some nail-biting, I'm thinking of attempting a particular route using the numerals to illustrate it. From what I've read, my idea falls between the cracks of postal history so it's going into the thematic area. Back to John's musings about incr...

The other alternative is to either a) purchase, or b) make your own stamp album, where you use hinges to keep the stamps on the page.

A packet of hinges will keep about 1,000 stamps in place, and are relatively cheap to purchase.

This practice has a long and honourable tradition.
