The 3d Brown stamp you have on your cover was issued in 1871 to meet the 3d inter-colonial ship letter rate. That's all I've found so far and that was kindly donated by Tasmanian Philatelic Society http://www.tps.org.au/html/Tas_stamps_article.html

I just tossed out hundreds dating back to the 80's. I'm being really hard so that I can clear out my house (I'm going to rent it out). It's hard but I can do it! :cry:
