I do not think that the US would add any arrival mark now ! Certainly there would not be one in the UK . Those days are long gone . A lot of the time UK mail does not even get a postmark at all as it goes through mechanical sorting and nobody use handstamps except counter clerks when mail comes in f...

Au Contraire !

The bluing in the surface printed issues is in the paper and does tend to be even throughout.

The Bluing in the Line engraved penny red is due to Potassium Prussate in the ink and that produces the uneven bluing known as the " Ivory Head".

I can think of at least one reason that it would be cheaper to have 2 items rather than one large (outsized) one.....handling. It may have something to do with equipment and standardised dimensions and/or weights. Evidently! Royal mail says they have " simplified" !! :lol: :lol: :lol: But...

The sad fact on 99% of all GB First day covers is they have virtually no value for the years 1960 to 1990 .
