Thank you very much Eibar, Arnab, Kbdessai, Jon, Brad, Girish Vaidya, and Zaheer! :D

There are still plenty of possible combinations, so it's never too late to put in a guess (before the GP that is... )

Cheers,
Joel.

And WilfredB, I was wrong in my assumption since this is a constant plate flaw, so you have a stamp with good value here and worthy of pride of place in your collection. Good for you! :D

In all fairness, the third one appears to be a four margin example, albeit with an indistinct and rather heavy cancellation. It should still be good for $10 though I would think.

It would be interesting to know if the flaws shown here are constant plate flaws (more interesting in nature), or just the result of an accidental insertion of impurities in the printing process (less interesting of course and unlikely to be recorded).

WilfredB, There are some significant varieties/misprints of these stamps and they are listed in the Maury, but they look nothing like what you are showing here. This is a very nice set engraved by Leon Janssens and issued on October 1953 to celebrate Europe. I'm offering this MNH set at 15% of COB catalog, or US$ 13. This also works out to 11% of SG catalog value. Free postage to anywhere and payment by Paypal. http://i963.photobucket.com/albums/ae113/joel1...

The whole concept of cancellation, used universally, came into being to prevent fraudulent re-use. That it is not uniformly applied because of operational sloppiness does not negate that fact. Stamps are not meant to be re-used as they are a receipt of payment for a service, for which the tariff, ev...

No. Doing something that you know is dishonest is your fault entirely, not anyone else's.

If you see someone drop money in the street, is it ok for you to pick it up and walk away because it's their fault they dropped the money? In your view, that seems to be the case.

Interesting reactions from all of you. I agree with HalfpennyYellow, if the PO doesn't cancel their stamps, there is no guarantee their stamps will not be reused. So, their fault. About the illegal factor: the Dutch law happily doesn't mention anything about this 'reusage-illegality'. If there real...

How could you possibly think it's legal to reuse a stamp? The stamp is sold to pay for a service, which is to carry one letter, not two or three. By reusing the stamp, you obviously ask the PO to bear the cost of carrying the letter for no retribution, and therefore make them lose money, that they h...
