This below is on a parcel label I have, and it is from 1921 before Die 2B issued.

It must therefore be Die 1 or Die 2.

It has no inner frame break - that is clear to see.

I am leaning slightly toward Die 2 due to 'teardrop' .. what do others think?

Looks like a Die II to me, based on your scan.

Peter yes I was leaning that way too.

Harder to see in the flesh .. was adding this label to my Rarity page today, and as the 3d pair is upside down, did not even glance twice at it.

But if Die 2, is $250 on parcel label, and all I was pricing was the 1/- Greens to be honest!

As many do not realise, the ACSC now catalogues all Roos on cover or parcel labels or parcel fragments. I ID'd one for a member here last month and probably made him $1000s - see report here - http://www.tinyurl.com/ParcelRoo- Almost none of these full labels were retained, being soaked off over the generations as "used".

This ugly large oval "MAIL HALL MELBOURNE" type cancels were the normal type used in GPO's on parcels. Not pretty, but normal use. These are the EARLY 1/- prints .. the Emerald Green HARRISON Die 2s - very similar in colour to the 1st and 32nd wmk 1/-. Not to be confused with the far more common Die 2B issues of 1926.

Cat $250 each on parcel label .. and focused on them until I noticed the 3d Die!

Glen, don't forget that the ACSC value is based on the scarcest item on cover (in this case the 3d Die II) and then the used values of each of the rest. Unfortunate when you have multiple scarce items on the same cover or piece!

BTW, I am more convinced that it is a DIE II sgter having another good look. :)

Peter .. yes it was priced at $300 before I saw the 3d die on scan, and asked this question, (based on the early print 1/- Emeralds mostly - which are ACSC $250 a single) and I'll keep it at that price, as the 3d probable Die 2 is not perfect, but a very nice combo piece!

No idea what Die the other 3d is, as cancel right over it.

Die 2 1/-'s are $250 on a parcel label no matter what shade, and having a Die 2 3d as well, make it a probably unique Die 2 combo label!

Where did I read about how to tell a die 1 from a die 2?...the answer related to the 'd' of 3d.

Absolute die 2 Glen.

The "teardrop" method rules again , Good enough for Simon, good enough for anyone.

I am sure there is something to that, with the top of the d - whether flat serif or not. Not sure if in ALL cases that is a test though?

Is this 3d a Die II ? The top of the d looks like with flat serif.

Image

It is on a 1919 cover so probably 3rd watermark.

Image

And this one ? The frame above T is not broken and doesn't seem to be overinked. The top circle of the 3 and the d are covered by the postmark but the top of the d looks like with flat serif.

Image

This one is on a 1923 cover front and likely another 3rd watermark.

The top serif of the d is still open to discussion. Your top stamp is die 1 IMHO.

The Fiji cover almost certainly the common Die 2B from the date.

Hi Glen, you are right..I looked at the first 3d again and noticed the broken frame just beneath the postmark line.
