Still HOT and dry as a bone! Still 101 today beats the 106 of last week. And of course Colorado Springs 40 miles to the north almost burned up last Tuesday- 1 dead 2 people missing and around 300+ homes burned down. Wish we could just get a drenching rain right now. :(

Sorry to hear that, I saw on the news that things looked pretty bad over there.

It's hot and dry as bone here too in the high desert. Luckily we have had more rain overall than last year though...and so far the fires have been minimal.

It's drizzly and overcast here now too, for the third day in a row! We only get this in the desert about once every two years. It's nice for a change really, cooler, pretty and grey out. Except the Koi pond is overflowing.

Of course when the sun comes out, it's going to be a hot, steamy, humid mess. Luckily that only lasts for about an hour or two with our high UV.

I'm ready for winter!

On our National Day it's cloudy, but after weeks of autumn like weather,
the temperatures will rise to the mid twenties °C in the next few days :-)
Finally summer has arrived !

A bit on the chilly side here....wind, rain sleet and now some snow. Only very light as it melted as it hit the ground. Has been ages since we have seen snow in our yard.

Crap.
My Texas abode got 2.5 inches of rain last Saturday in 20 minutes.
That's a fifth of the yearly total.

This was the weather yesterday

Image

As you can see, we are coming into spring, the rose bush is about to spring into life and some of our spring plants are ready to burst. The sun is a lot stronger now, in June our winter time, the hedge shadows reach the ranch sliders and this courtyard is a damp quagmire. This is our first dry day in 23 days of rain or showers every day. Winters are warm but wet.
Temperature at this shot was 15.4 degrees (Taken at 12.21pm)

I'm up at Dinner Plain which is below the skiable area at Mt Hotham.

A beautiful sunny day.

We were going to have a BBQ but it was going to require too much effort.

Perth, Western Australia at present is cold and wet. The winter has had below average rainfall so the spring is trying to make up for it. A little bit of hail amongst the rain but mainly just heavy showers.

Whats the weather like??............crazy. Supposed to be spring.

Last Friday (5/10) was a beautiful spring day....27C (81F) but today its cold, windy, rainy and its only 7.8C (46F). I wouldn't be at all suprised if its not snowing at the ski resorts.

Probably won't be long and we will be complaining about the heat

Well, our crazy weather day proved to be the coldest October day in 28 years, with a high of 8C recorded.

There was a fall of snow in Michelago which is 54 klms south of Canberra, but only rain here.

We had our first sunny day in ages, glorious sun all day, spent most of it outside. The sun is really good at this time of the year. Here's what it looked like at 1pm this afternoon.

Image

As you can see, the sun makes everything look really nice and bright. Not that it was very warm though, it was 17 degrees most of the day, still warm enough for the shirt sleeves and the garden keeps most of the cold winds out.

Wolseley 16/60 you are right, October has been terrible at this end of the country too, no snow, but almost continuous rain and showers and hardly any sun. When is spring going to come. Honestly we are having highs of like 14 or 15 and its late October.
Last year we had a bad summer here in New Zealand, they have promised a much better one this year, but I am yet to see any signs of it.

PS My Dad used to drive a 1964 Wolseley 16/60, big tank of a car weren't they?

I have had the fire going continuously since April [with only 2 days off !!!], last summer here was cold mostly but oddly enough we had our driest December on record !

Yes the 16/60 is a bit of a brute of a car but the 6/110 is even 'brutier'.....

We have had a run of luck here this week, 5 fine days in a row, no pesky or malingering showers or anything. Although Thursday was mostly cloudy, the other days have all been fine and nice. Some days its got as hot as 19 degrees.

Its actually 7 celsius. We know all about your hurricane thanks to saturation nws coverage. Bit annoyed they only focused on White America rather than all the Hispanic and Black people in Cuba, Haiti and Dominican Republic where much more damage was done. Oh I forgot in our American dominated world, these people don't matter.

Auckland Currently 18.7 feels like 18c 1 clothing layer.
Fine with a chance of showers in afternoon.
Tomorrow, Rain in the morning changing to light showers in afternoon, high of 19, low of 14.
Seems the rain at this end of the country does very little to temperatures.
But we have had 4 fine days in a row, and before that 5 days fine.

In a word terrible, its early November and the average day should be up to 20 degrees now and lows of 12. Instead we are getting days with highs of 14 and lows of 8.
Theres a huge high over the country, but for some reason, there are tiny lines (I am assuming you can all read a weather map) which are causing rain fronts or the malingering showers as we put it. Yes the rest of the country is basking in sunshine EXCEPT  for Auckland which may have the risk of a shower or two (Translation torrential downpours all day).
Currently the met service says its supposed to be 16 and clear at 11am, its currently 11c and gushing down.
Another reason why we have a cool temparate maritime climate at latitude 36 south (Ideally our climate is more suited for 56 south, I mean our climate is compared with frozen, barren places like Norway and Alaska's panhandle). We are closer to the equator than most of the Mediterranean yet our climate is positively Baltic.

Dreadful, the month of November here is supposed to be dry (9 days of rain), and highs of between 18 and 22 and lows of 11 to 14. So far every day it has rained or there has been a shower at some stage. Last week we had a high parked over us, but yet in Auckland there was one little line front that produced 12 mm of rain on a supposedly fine day.
As for temperatures, we are yet to crack 20, some days have had highs of 13 and the hottest day so far has been 18.7 way below the average. The average high so far is 17.0 degrees (2.6 below average) and low of 9.4 (3.2 degrees below average) and yet we are being promised a better than average dry summer. I know its early November, but it feels like August.

Thanks Australians :D
Warm air blowing off your country has finally reached us and we have had 3 days of this....
Image
It was 22 today, 23 yesterday and 22 on Wednesday, no rain any of the days and its just become summer overnight. After 2 months of 16 degrees, southerly winds and showers. We have the warm northwesters blowing in from OZ.
Walked around the park and its all green and summery, 22 may sound cold, but with no wind and only 40% humidity, it feels great, plus add in how strong the sun is now (Look at how short the shadows are, its like over 4/5 the way up in the sky).

Another hot and sunny day, this time its 21 and the sun has been shining most of the day. The plants are getting more thirsty all the time.
