Hi Guys,

I was wondering if there was any motorcyclists on here and what you ride.

I have been mad on motorcycles now for years and started with a Honda Melody 50 ( oh the shame ).
I'm currently saving up for a bike after a 5 year absence.

The best bike i have owned is a Suzuki gsx-r 750h, 1987 model which was quick and reasonable on fuel.

Hi Weird Al,

Nice classic British bike the Matchless 650, is it the G12 / CSR ?

How long did it take you to build ?

A friend of mine and i built a 1969 Norton 750 Commando, i helped out at weekend and he did the rest most evenings.

I do not ride at the moment as i have nowhere to park a bike, i do not fancy leaving it outside in a British winter.

Hopefully i may get one for the summer.

Nice avatar by the way :D .

Hi,

The only classic bike i have actually ridden ( or the only one my friend would let me have a go on  ) was a Triumph T120 Bonneville, lovely bike to ride also.

Yes (to answer the question) but without a motorbike at present. Something in the ducati range (perhaps a 748r) might suffice in the future though....

While in the army I did a spell as a 'Don R.' [Dispatch rider.], and rode BSA 500 M/20 S/valves. Top speed about 50mph and half an hour to get to there. I rode a couple of others on army XC trials and enjoyed riding them.

In the early 90's I had a Suk. GSX-R750 K. Unfortunately on my way from the the mountains to Christchurch, I passed a car at a speed in excess of 150mph. The road was straight and decended gently on to the Canterbury plains.

The cars was my wifes which I failed to recognise.... The bike was sold within 3 days!!

I've had a few since then, all trail bikes. However I'm presently toying with the idea of a cruiser, and I fancy the Honda gold wings.

Huanga.

Hi all

My first bike was a BSA bantam Sports (4 speed box) this was in the UK.A GSX 250 was next on the list.

This was upgraded to a Honda 1100 Boldor that was a mean machine, after being hit by a truck and being written off (the bike, not me )

I was banned from bikes by my wife, that was 28 years ago. Haven't ridden one since.

I have been in the saddle for 38 1/2 years, that's legally !!

My 1st bike was a BSA A10
2nd bike was a BSA A65 (ex Police bike, complete with crash bars)
3rd bike was a Triumph Bonneville (1973 model)

My 4th bike was a Harley Davidson (1980 Lowrider FXS)

This was taken Xmas Day 1982
Image

And this was taken in mid December 1984 on our way to the MRA Toy Run.. I have my then girlfriend on the back and am riding with my mate Monky, who has the 1980 Sturgis (FXB).. I still catch up with him for a ride as we both now live in country towns and he is only about 1 1/4 hours down the track at the speed limit  He also still has the Sturgis !!

Image

And now my 5th bike.. This is a 2006 Softail (FXST) which I have had since 2006 after I sold the Lowrider after 26 years !!

When the Government lets me get rid of the silly looking training wheels, I'll be flattening those teeny little Harley toys each day, to and from the PO. 8)

Lucky I ever found this thread. I have a 1986 Shadow 1100 (VT1100C). I have very few pictures of it but I'll put some on here.

I've had the bike since 1989 - half of my life. It's always been stored indoors despite me renting rooms from other people the first 10 years I had it. Only has about 122,000km on the clock because of our long Canadian winters. I didn't use it last summer because I knew I had a busy schedule of family gatherings. Big mistake. Even riding a few hours a week is better than not riding at all.

The bike was knocked over on it's right side by a car about 8 years ago. Parked, I wasn't able to do anything about it. It didn't break a thing. Not one bit of plastic or glass. The pipe and signal have a few scratches...

Can you tell I like centre stands?.......and one for the road..... :P

Nothing wrong with one of those. I imagine it's a fun bike. My friend’s father had a shadow for a few years.
At least we share three things in common. Have you wondered why you put your bikes away this winter? I can't ever remember a winter like this.

So Happy to see motorcycle Pals on here- my first bike was a 1972 650cc BSA Thunderbolt- 2nd bike, and my favorite forever, a 1969 Triumph Bonneville... best handling bike I ever had.. If you want to tune a Bonnie so that it will take gas like it had an accelerator pump, throw that Haynes manual away- go 40 degrees full advance and proper valve lash - you'll never lose a stoplight to stoplight drag with anyone. 8)
