Nice block Chris! :D

And feel free to bore us with blocks of GB, especially if they are of similar quality. :D

Oh, "quality" is so subjective. I don't have any mint GB blocks (I wish). How about this block of four 1d reds from plate 62 ?

Added this to my Rarity page today - USA 1955 $5 Black, Alexander Hamilton Top Value .. a better centred block would be impossible to find, and yet these are still very cheap stamps I feel for something now 55 years old.

I see the USA was still using Line Perf machines in 1955.

Blocks are always nice, but there's something particularly appealing about blocks of Poonch ...

This 1 Anna (SG 13)

Image

and 4 Anna (SG 15)

Image

are just from the printings on ribbed wove bâtonné paper - nothing to get too agitated about - but lovely to look at.

(And yes, the pencil lines were ruled to help the printer place the die used to print the stamps.)

This block of the 1 Anna on blue-green wove bâtonné paper (SG 50)

Image

is even more common, but still impressive in a multiple like this :D

Bought this lovely looking (to me anyway) item in an estate today.

Complete 1981 Registered parcel label from Stockholm to Paddington NSW.

Weight was over 10 kilos, so Air parcel franking was enormous.

Marginal booklet pane of 4 of the superb 50 Kr Slania Falcon stamp.

What I assume is a full pane/block of 10 of 20 Kr Ducks ... straight edge top and base.

5 x 10 Kr Map.

14 x 5 Kr Wigsforss inc 3 stips 4.

Now Australia catalogues all these things on parcel piece, and the collector following for them is large.

If this had 4 x $10 Paintings, 10 x $5 paintings, 5 x $4 paintings, and 17 x $2 Paintings etc on a complete tidy parcel tag, it would certainly be a $300 piece.

Is there any premium on these in Sweden does anyone know?

Glen

Nothing of great value, in fact it just came out yesterday. I really like this sheet though, so I wanted to show you some detail.

Another block with a flaw. I seem to have collected them at sometime in the past. This is New Zealand. SG761 and the flaw is on the upper right block. Right leg.

Image

Interesting. On the above image the flaw appears as if it could be some fluff. Its not, and the stamp has not been damaged. It must have been dirt on the roller?

I would say printed in one colour on coloured paper, to give a 2 colour appearance.

Rarotonga SG71 & 71a The latter being the double derrick flaw. The two on this block are; Bottom left and dead centre.

Image

Rarotonga SG93 No W/Mk.

Image

From the looks of both these blocks I may have gotten they out of storage in time.

Scott #1438 US block of 6 (Prevent Drug Abuse) As you can see the right stamp of the pair below has a small area with ink omitted, probably caused by matter on the plate during printing. Never seen another.

showing the mixture of lower case 'p' (SG 9) and upper case 'P' (SG 26) in 'Postage', and the elephant's trunk holding a log (yes: that's what it is) in just about every conceivable horizontal position :D

And while I'm doing type-set stamps, how about this sheet of Duttia SG 28, the 1912 ½ Anna perf 13½ x imperf (I think Gibbons' description of it as 'black/dull green' is wrong.)

Image

Those are not cancellations, by the way, but control handstamps that were supposed to be applied to all Duttia stamps before they were sold.

Let me match a Victorian block with (what was once) a Victorian Indian block:

Image

Patiala SG O7a - the rather suspiciously common inverted Service overprint of 1885

If someone can translate what this is all about, I would appreciate it very much.
All I know is that it is some kind of receipt from a post office and the stamps are official stamps used during the German hyperinflation period.

While living in New Farm, Brisbane in the early 1980's I sent a parcel (in one of Australia Post's new packaging product (box)) from the local post office. These are the high value stamps they had at the time - 45 x 18s and a token 15 thrown in for a total of $8.25:

Too large to scan at once, so the images don't quite match.
