Ok, This is where Kampar town is located

Image
This is where is Kampar located in Malaysia.

Image
This is Where is Kampar located in Perak, Malaysia. It is South of Ipoh, where is a capital of Perak. The island on the top left of the map is Penang Island (Pulau Pinang) where I am living opposite of the island (mainland) now.

Image
This is close up view of the Kampar area. The small town Malim Nawar on the top left is the place where I originated and my grandparent use to live here.

Image
This is Old Kampar Town and its main street. The main street (the last road on the left from top to bottom) is use to federal road (No. 1 route from North to South of Western Malaysia) to Penang and Kuala Lumpur, it is known as old route from Northern Malaysia to Southern Malaysia. It was a busy street before PLUS (North-South) highway opened.

Image
The lakes on the north of Kampar Old town is use to Tin Mining area, and it is now where University (UTAR) and College (TARC) of Tunku Abdul Rahman located. My sister is a lecturer there. I use to work in that University for 2 years until December last year in Kuala Lumpur branch.

That is all that I can share up with you all :)

Kenny makes it SO much sharper even though photo is slightly smaller - as you can see - seen how much sharper the Google logo is at lower right as a good comparison.

Kenny there is no need to sharpen any scans.

Simply posting them here in the photobucket settings as you can see "sharpens" it a lot anyway. :)

Here's a Bullseye cancel. Can anyone give me any information about this type of cancel? I've seen ones that look like concentric rings before, but not like a dartboard like this one.

I think you had better check the heading of this thread again kenny. This is bullseye and SON thread, it got a little derailed by your pictures of Malaysia. 8) 8) 8)

Well, I show the photos about my hometown because it was requested by Gavin-h and Crosscrescent and told them where is the place on the postmark is. I was living there once before, so I could show them a little bit history and geography about that area. I don't have much SON to show here, so the only I can do here is sharing my knowledge about those place on the postmark if I can :) .

John,

I think it's "COELN". An old spelling of "KOELN" or "KOLN", which in English is Cologne, Germany

This arrived at my house today. Simply beautiful, and it'll be even prettier after a wash. Can anyone help me with where "398" was?

The red background really bring out postmark.
A black maltese cancel on GB QV Penny black would be a mess.

This unappealing purple/blue Straits stamp need the cancel to have had been rotated +1 degree clockwise for a very balanced SON

Here is one I made long time ago:
Image

Not accidental... I prepared 20 envelopes and with great precision placed the stamps in a location to get a bullseye when struck with the FDOI MACHINE cancellation. The majority were a success. Not a hand "bullseye" cancel (why it is called a bullseye is beyond me...), or hand-cancel with bars having only the circle portion hit the stamp.

In target sports, such as archery, darts, various shooting disciplines, the "bullseye" is always the centre ring of the target

I know the definition of Bullseye... A stamp that has a bullseye cancel, to me, is a cancel that is completely on the the surface of the stamp. The USPS 'Bullseye' hand cancel for FDOI's doesn't have the fdoi slogan and bars - just the circular ring. The 'bullseye' is bigger than the average stamp, thus the ring usually is never completely on the stamp.

I was pricing up a GB collection tonight and saw this little beauty.

A $25 scarce 1881 "14 Dots" stamp became a $40 stamp due to this quite magic cancel!

SG 170 Cat £30+ 50% for VFU = £45.

That is something to really drool over. The nice clear crisp black cancellation over that vivid orange is really eye catching.

Nah, fiscal usage - absolute rubbish

Stampdog - send it to me instead to save yourself the embarrassment of keeping it

Hi

Found this little item today. There are 2 noticable things about this stamp.

Firstly, Great sock on nose cancel from Port Elliot SA.

Second, the cancel seems to predate the issue by 9 years if I am reading it right, it says October 24 1920 :?:
The year date just does not seem right to me like they tried to correct it in someway :?

Your thoughts please.
