at the risk of being banned before i get to grips with this site i am sure a lot of people starting are put off by the complexity of simply getting a posting in the right place, for those who have the higher level of ability then the full marks must be for a really useful site ,if you can find your way around, surely others are not afraid to say how they are finding it or the consequences of being banned for daring minor criticism never published?

Silverfish,

I dont think it can get any easier than your first post being the Roll Call.

Simply say hi there , respond to a few welcomes and off you go.

Spend 10 minutes loooking around the site and a quick look at the search area, read a few threads to see if it takes your interest and have a post.

Surely it cannot get much easier than that can it.

Its a very friendly site and you will get the hang of it very quickly if you stick around.

Hang in there, it can be a little daunting in the beginning, but there is a wealth of knowledge here and many great people from all over the world sharing a plethora of interests.

You're right, Pandadog, if you land at the start page for Stampboards.
But because Google indexes the site (as do others) you can actually land anywhere in any thread. Now of course it makes sense to read something about the forum and how it works. But sometimes if you land on a question you can answer there might be a tendency to just go ahead and try to answer it - make a contribution; or to write, "yeah I've got one of those too, what is it??"

There is a link to 'Rules' and another to 'FAQ' both of which are good starting points. But I don't think there is any obvious link to 'home' - although net-savvy readers will probably click on the logo at top left. It is, as has been said, all a bit daunting at first!

I look forward to your posts as I think you have the hang of it now

It's not easy as not all forums are the same but with a bit of patience and watching it all sinks in.

silverfish where are you looking for me? If you are looking on the bottom of this page I may not be there as I'm either reading somewhere else or I could even be away from the puter, but if you look on the bottom of the index page I'm there  ......see me? :P

MOD HAT ON

Silverfish, we ask that all members here please use capital letters and correct syntax where appropriate. Have a look around the posts on this board, you'll see that we all take the time to do it.

Thank you.
