This is a request for assistance with my latest publication.

I have been working on this for some years now, and have reached the stage where it is nearly ready for publication. Currently it is over 90 A4 pages, and lists an awful lot of stamps. Those who've seen a copy of my previous publication on the Copyright Royalty stamps of the world will know the level of detail I'm aiming for. If you are drawing a blank, a sample chapter from that publication is here http://www.78rpm.net.nz/mechcopy/Book/F.pdf

I've had access to two other significant NZ collections of this material, which has enabled me to form a view on what is common (not very many of them) and what is very scarce (most are represented by less than 5 copies between us).

What I would like to do before printing the monograph is to cast the net wider and so I am asking for other collectors who have holdings of this material to email me so I can see if their items can add to either the listing, or can adjust the scarcity factors. Acknowledgement of assistance will be given.

Here is the list of the issuers so far covered in the book. As you can see, I'm avoiding the more modern Courier issues for this publication, I may tackle those in Volume 2! Generally if it says Courier, or is peel&stick, it's excluded.

What a great project!

So you are excluding things like the Timaru Cycle Express things?

I had a feeling Henderson in his youth *may* have actually offered a parcel service for the higher values, but with him who knows!

Yes, keeping "locals" out. Else there'd be Kiwi Letter Express, Scout posts, even Stampways Document Exchange. They don't really fit.

Hi Adam
Easy to say, but

Could be a nice addendum [just a littling] for completeness at the back. 3-4 pages say

Then I'd have to change the title from The Parcel Carriage Labels of New Zealand, plus I'd actually have to collect and research the things. Not for me, thanks. I'm sure there are others who are more interested in these local mail items.

This publication is now available for purchase from the Royal Philatelic Society of New Zealand.

Image

100 A4 pages, full colour, ring-bound. Price to RPSNZ members is just NZ$40, to non-members NZ$50. Plus postage & packaging.

All you need to know to order, plus some sample pages, can be found at the RPSNZ website http://www.rpsnz.org.nz/

I heartily recommend this publication, but then I'm biased :D

Adam.

:D Pleased to note that my book received a Large Silver award at the 13th National Philatelic Literature Exhibition, held in Palmerston North, NZ. I believe the RPSNZ has a few copies remaining.

Full award list: http://www.nzpf.org.nz/societies/central/manawatu/2013no13.pdf
