I'm sure this won't win the gold medal, but it did have me laughing...

an eBay lot (where else?)

LUNDY & ATLANTIC COAST OLD RARE STAMPS DOUBLE MINT MNH FOR YOUR COLLECTION ALBUM

Well, "Doublemint" is indeed gum, but most collectors don't like to find it on the backs of their stamps!

Forgot to add: It's "Double Mint" because it's a pair of stamps. Of course.

Shame it's not the much more rare pair of one used and one mint...

You would need to go a long way to beat my current favourite eBay Dreamer o2ke's descriptions. Here in particular he even excells himself, by trying to flog a photocopy of a Perf. Gauge.

Quote:
Post office attendants often recommend we check the edge cuts on stamps finding rare mint issue, and fakes among batch items.

Discovering an ordinary issue with sized egdes uncommon with it's respected standard increases the collector value. Having one is a genuine one of a kind varirty, of that stamp.

Stamps become valable as much as 2000 times.

Rare collections can aspire, amature albums and even mailbag holds can single out stamps. Any stamp might qualify simply messure with this antique messure maker and discover.

Check new and old stamps.

Messure fit for many different types of stamps in history.

Because of the nature of the Auction, the card is not fully shown. The messure guage is not fully revealed.

This is an original messure in my collection and only a copy will be sent to the buyer.

He has the capacity to mangle English in a unique way, that can be almost awe inspiring at times. He is in Melbourne, and while I would quite happily transpose his descriptions into English, I don't have a clue what he is trying to say.

Almost looks like he may have put it through an auto translator (like Babelfish), maybe??
Wonder what he can do for stamp tongs? :)

The USA 2-cent black Harding strip of 3 with a rare perf comes to mind. That is worth about $200,000, so if its worth o2ke's full 2,000 times, that makes a 'normal' strip of 3 worth $100, when really they're little more than packet material. Oh wait, if it were o2ke selling the normal version, he would believe it to be worth $100, or $500, or $8,000.

After all, it's a memorial issue. He'd probably explain the price with something like "Stamp amazing fast issued for gone President short time most rare gauge perf for serious collector item."

o2ke's eBay description sets a whole new standard for stupid eBay decriptions...

Maybe it's the unique selling point he is using to try and sell his stuff... I doubt it will work though.
