There are a group of "buy it now" lots ending next week, here:

http://stampauctionnetwork.com//BA/r20596.cfm

that include Australian NH face at less than 50% of FV... $1100 for US$473, $2100 for $838,
$3800 for $1530. Not my stuff, and I can't afford to mess around with AU$ postage right now, but saw it and thought "someone in Australia with some patience should buy this stuff and make some money parceling it out in smaller lots."

There's a few members here on SB it could be. Maybe an auction house or publisher who will use this to help reduce overheads. :P

Go and search the word Apfelbaum on this board.

Being regummed or re-perfed or even photocopies etc would surprise few.

Their reputation is appalling.

doc, nobody is going to waste time and money regumming $9,000 face of ungummed (used) Australian Decimals for resale at 50% face, when that is around what they bring ungummed anyway without regumming.

It would cost, per stamp, huge multipes of the resale price. We are talking here of regumming up to 20,000 stamps, which on average sold on average at probably 20 - 25 cents each.

Lots of gutter blocks of 10 that GUTTERS would probably salivate over (of course that would wet the gum and they'd end up all stuck together , and large panes. Another 'investor' maybe given the era of the material; the large blocks are mostly in odd broken shapes, so not someone keeping full sheets.

Apfelbaum doesn't do a brilliant job with descriptions sometimes its true, especially with someone 'harder' like Indian States, but you pretty much can't regum a multiple, as the gum would clog up in the perf holes.

I 100% agree that Apfelbaum can be sloppy when it comes to identifying, describing, and spotting problems on expensive individual stamps.

Their box lots are usually a good deal when purchased out of the discounted "Buy it now" sales. I've bought a fair number of them over the years.

I figured that counting out modern AU postage is something they would not screw up, so did not post the sort of disclaimer/warning that I might have on different types of material.

I could think of at least 3 or 4 folks on this board who could use lots like those; that's why I posted them up.
