here are the images of the second issue to be released in October If they are not clear when I get a set of the actual stamps I will post them. The pictures on the second issue are the Panama City Post Office and the second is the annual ocktoberfest seal.

The border of the sheets are the same as the first except the price is different, here are the singles

Among my favorite cinderellas are the stamps issued by the Kingdom of Taniquah, a small Maori island a bit to the north of Norfolk Island.

I like cinderellas since I recently discovered them, I hope to add to the greater knowledge and encourage others to collect by issuing my own local posts.

If you can send me your snail mail address I can mail actual sheets with all the details, but remember this local post is primarilly for me to frank my mail :) , be on a postage stamp (with the first issue) :D and try to encourage stamp collecting (which when I sell stamps on ebay I will frank the package) :D , not many issues will be sold as I can't afford to print large amounts  . The second issue will be released in October and the third (which is not done yet) in December and will have 3 subjects with 3 demoniations.

I think they are great! Wish I was an "alcohol thematic collector" to appreciate the Oktoberfest stamp more! As it is, I just settle for the real thing in bottle or glass.

I have desided that there will be only one first day issue for the first issue due to budget cutbacks. this is the FDC for issue number 1
Image

The local post cancel will be used on the stamp this is the proof.
for issue two the chaset will be different but have a Panama City feel, and since I am funding this by myself this is the way it's going to be. I am doing these stamps for my own mail and second hope to bring new collectors to the stamp table.

Another nice label on a common cover.

Which appears to be still going strong after 99 years.

"In 1913 a young man named Floyd Starr purchased a ramshackle barn and forty scrub-covered acres in Albion, Michigan and began what would eventually become one of the nation’s most respected child and family charities. Floyd Starr founded Starr Commonwealth as a refuge for "homeless, dependent, neglected and delinquent boys." It strives to change personal outcomes, one individual at a time."

Well, not so much a "Cinderella", as a promotional sticker for the national wildlife federation. But it's used & tied on cover, and it's very big.

Can't remember if there was a "poster" stamp thread, so I'll just add this here. :)

It reads: (Thanks Google translate)
DONATION -.20DM
FOR THE NATIONAL LIBERATION STRUGGLE
The soviet Cenotaph in Treptow
Thanks, Glory and Honor to our Liberators, the heroic Soviet army
11/9/31

cen·o·taph:
A cenotaph is an "empty tomb" or a monument erected in honor of a person or group of people whose remains are elsewhere. It can also be the initial tomb for a person who has since been interred elsewhere.

Image

A mystery for me is the date on the stamp it reads 11/9/31 but the memorial was built in 1949?? Any ideas?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_War ... er_Park%29

Thank,
patg

In this case, I suspect "Soviet War Memorial" would be a
better translation.

I think the imprint at bottom is probably the printer's order
number. Germans never write dates like that.

Jay,
I agree it makes it easier to understand saying "war memorial" , but the only translation I can find for ehrenmal is "Cenotaph". When you read the definition, seems to be literally what the site is. But remember, I don't speak/read a word of German, so don't have a clue about contemporary usage.

The "date" thru me off, so at first I was looking for some pre-war, Germany rising, nationalistic connection.
Turns out it was a post-war Russian, thank you for saving us, paid for by the German people.
I wonder how much was raised by the -.20DM "donation"?

The memorial, by the way is quite impressive by looking at the website, and something I would have never gone looking for if I had not come across the label. And, it's what makes it fun (with stamps) digging around finding out new things.

Thanks,
patg

I would still go with "war memorial". You say you used
Google Translate. Yes, the first choice is "cenotaph", but
if you click on it you get several more choices, including
"war memorial". Furthermore, my big fat Cassell's gives
"war memorial" as the first choice and "cenotaph" as the
only other choice.

The condition is poor, the centering is terrible, but it has been in my family since my grandfather acquired it which makes it worth something to me:

The last three are Saint Anthony's Guild cinderellas. This from the Saint Anthony Society web site:

Safe mail delivery: A custom has been handed down of marking the letters "S.A.G." somewhere on a letter or package. These initials stand for "St. Saint Anthony Guide". This prayer dates to an incident in July 1729 in Spain. A merchant's wife, in need of support from her husband on business in Peru placed a letter to him in the sleeve of St. Anthony's statue in her parish church, trusting he would somehow deliver it.

Returning to the statue the next day, she found not her own letter but one from her husband, Don Antonio. Lodger in the sleeve was a heavy pouch containing 300 pesos, also sent by him. The merchant advised his wife that a letter from her had been delivered "by a friar of the Order of St. Francis." Don Antonio was sending his reply through the same friar. To this day, the merchant's letter is preserved in the church at Oviedo.

This story led to the custom of placing "S.A.G." on mail and praying that St. Anthony give it safe passage.

St. Anthony's Guild offers packets of stamps imprinted with S.A.G. and pictures of the Saint. To request the stamps, write:

The Franciscans, St. Anthony's Guild

Paumerrek: Thanks for the story on S.A.G., I have the middle one, but had never researched it.

Debbie66: Quite an array of odd&ends. I like the 'War effort" labels by House of Seagram :D

Your first one is a slogan label used with booklet panes (but you knew that :D ). I collect them as I find them, hopefully on cover.

Perhaps Seagrams are worried that a rumour will get around about what sort of "health conditions" (or lack thereof!) prevail in their bottling plant!

Not sure if this an advertising label / poster stamp, or how it was used. Either way, it has a place in my expo collection.

The below came in a complete mess of a stockbook where most pages had nothing to do with any of the others.
I like charity labels, so was happy to see the selection of very colorful India TB's from the 1950&60's.

I could use some help from our India friends on the top-left one, as to what it was for. Let me know if you need a larger scan.

 theilschein-marke = (Google talk) in part seemingly brand
Lots of info on The "Hamburg-Amerika Linie". But, as of yet, did not fine any info on this particular 30pf.

As to the other three, I have no idea, so would welcome any hints or guesses.

Thanks & best to all,

Panama City Local Post honors Harvey Milk.

Panama City, Florida, October 15, 2012. Gay icon, Harvey Milk, will be honored on a special stamp from the Panama City Local Post shortly, announced Douglas Sandler, postmaster of the service, today.

The 45c stamp is printed in miniature sheets of 10, and will be issued on November 27 2012, the anniversary of Milk’s death.

Harvey Bernard Milk (May 22 1930 – November 27 1978) was the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California, when he won a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. He moved from New York City in 1972 to settle in San Francisco, amid a migration of gay men to the Castro District. He won a city supervisor seat in 1977.

He served almost 11 months in office, and was responsible for passing a gay rights ordinance for the city. On November 27, 1978, Milk along with Mayor George Moscone was assassinated by Dan White, a former official. Despite his short career, Milk became an icon in San Francisco and a martyr to the gay community. He was a visionary who imagined a righteous world in his head, then set out to make it real for all.

“Special First Day Covers will be available for the new stamp”, explained Mr Sandler.

A couple of Spanish wartime fundraisers. The second appears to have been rehabilitated for postal use.

I agree, these are superb, funny looking bear on the top value though, looks like an overweight gay man to me.

And that polar bear's tongue is BLUE, so I assume he has been licking a blueberry icecream.

The polar bear is called Emmett Nanuq and is actually in the Taniquah royal zoo. Yes you are all right, he's developed a taste for blueberry popsicles and grape drink.
The thing with glasses is Taniquah's Prime minister and has the Kings ear.

I have decided that in 2013 I will issue a series of local post stamps. They will be sheets the people who will be honored in the series titled "Gay, Lesbian and Bi-sexual Heroes on stamps".
Sheet 1 of 5 Harvey Milk issued 11/27/12
Sheet 2 of 5 George Moscone will be released February 2013
Sheet 3 of 5 Barney Franks will be released April 2013
Sheet 4 of 5 Prime minister of Iceland will be released July 2013
Sheet 5 of 5 6 politicians current and former will be released September 2013
After sheet 4 a presentation folder for all issues will be made. (release date may change)

The first sheet of 2013 will be a Panama City Views celebrating World local Post Day January 28, 2013 also there will be a sheet honoring PUSSY RIOT the Russian collective punk band that was jailed by the oppressive Russian government. it will be released March 2013. (again dates are subject to change)

The PUSSY RIOT stamp sheet is issued to remind people that freedom can be lost and to put pressure on Putin to release the band. I love having a local post I just wish I had a budget and recieved funds to help design the stamps and print them.
