An 1873 Articles of Agreement between two Wellingtonians settung up as partners in a Butchery.

The FINE PAID is a nice item on document, but does anyone know why there was a Fine as well as the 1s fee to be paid?

OK, no revenues but a very interesting historic NZ document. An 1852 Land Grant signed by Governor George Grey (Governor of the Province of New Munster - this is before the imaginative renaming into North Island and South Island occurred).

This later land deed from 1861, signed by Governor Gore Brown has later on had the 10/-, 3/- and larger size 1d Lands & Deeds stamps affixed on 28/12/1877 - in their first year of issue.

The Ad Valorem (Estate Duty) percent stamps are quite rare at the best of times - the Tasman 1999-2000 has them at NZ$750 each. Here's the 1pct on original document from 1869 - again an early use.

Share Transfers, 1879, in The National Fire and Marine Insurance Co of NZ.

The top of the document, and the fine print point 2 both clearly state a fee of 2/6d. Why, then, does the second one have a 5s stamp?

Back into lotting up this collection of NZ revenue stamps documents.

This is a highlight - the QV Die 1 perf 9/-. Catalogued Kiwi 2010 at $1,250. Must be seriously rare (even unique) on complete document.

Image

Both the QV Die 1 £35 and £4-10s are scarce stamps (cat $500 ea), less if the perfs are cut off.

Image

Image

Nice to see them in use, and side-by-side. And a nice strip of 5 of the 10/- Lands & Deeds too.

Finally, the QV ultra-high value revenues (over £1000) were individually printed to order, making most "unique". They are reasonably frequently offered on piece, this is the first full document I've sighted. £6,900 value, plus a nice variety of other stamps.

Used at the very end of the life of the QV stamps, as I think in 1935 they started printing the gold stamps with the Arms design.

Adam.

The Lands & Deeds stamps are know in several perforations - 12½, 11¾ or 12x11½.

This item on complete document from February 1880 is particularly unusual in that the 10/- red-brown has clear double (mixed) perfs.

It is perf 12½ outside, with an extra row inside at the top measuring 11¾ (or nearly 12 as Vol 6 has it).

The Kiwi 2010 catalogue at the bottom of page 27 is dubious of the existence of the (compound)12½x11¾ as they had "not been seen by a leading NZ specialist". Well, here's one!

Hi Adam

Most of the 'Brodie' material is great and should be recorded for future use.

Will you consider adding all the high definition scans that you will have made to a ftp server so they can be downloaded in one go.
