I was sorting through one of my shoe-boxes now when I came across these beautiful Herm Island full sheets.

I logged in here and gave a search for Herm Island; I did find a separate topic for Lundy and I found a few Herm Island stamp images on the Lundy topic thread, and of course, a couple of wonderful resource links, from where I found that these sheets I have are the last issue of carriage labels for Herm Island - the 1969 Ship Definitives. They were in use for only 14 days, in mid-September 1969, after which the island's postal service was closed following Guernsey's postal independence on October 1st.

These sheets arouse my curiosity, and when I explored the reference link given here on Stampboards for Herm Stamps, I actually found a webpage there listing, with stamp images, the entire stamps and sets issued for Herm Island between 1943-69, with all relevant details.

They use a catalogue numbering system there, where, for example, the above ship definitives have a catalogue number B&F 111-116. Does someone know what B&F stands for?

B&F appears to stand for Backman & Forrester who, apparently, produced the definitive catalogue for Herm Island.

Nice sheets Safi. Herm Island even had a pigeon post for a while which is where I got interested. Unfortunately most of the Herm Island material that comes on the market was produced purely for philatelic interests but it probably added somewhat to the local economy. There are some books available on Herm postage. Here's a link to one writer.
