I thought I would show you all Lichtenberg's stamps, we have a few more on the way.

The stamps were designed by Count Johann von Lupro and printed in Berlin.

The early issues are printed on a glossy paper while all later issues are printed on matte. They all have gummed backs, we prefer that over peel and stick.

We actually use them for postage here in Lichtenberg.

I don't have many images, (I just sent around 15 letters out yesterday) but here is a letter of congratulations to the new President of Germany.

Yes, they are well produced and attractive, but they aren't postage stamps even for a self-proclaimed micro-nation. I've got no problem with people spending money on cinderellas but I would much rather they know what their true provenance is. In fact, I'd rather people spent money on real stamps

No they are not valid in United States for postage, we know this, everyone knows it. They are valid for postage within Lichtenberg and its consulates. Which means if a piece of mail leaves my residence It has a Lichtenberger stamp on it. It is required for postage. If you refuse to recognize that, then call it a artist stamp because Johann von Lupro (a graphic artist) has spent many hours working on these stamps.

I didn't believe for one minute that the stamps were valid in the USA as I know that only USPS stamps are valid there. Equally Lichtenberg stamps are not valid in any other country. As the Principality of Lichtenberg has no actual land-mass and only 17 citizens there can't be any possible need a postal service or postage stamps.

We are dead serious about Lichtenberg, like we said Lichtenberg is not a game or simulation, we don't claim huge tracks of land. Lichtenberg exists because our Citizens believe it exists. We don't take off our Lichtenberger hat when we leave the computer. Real money has been invested in Lichtenberg, we take it very seriously we hope you do as well.

Letters leaving the Principality (which there is no land yet) or any consulate of Lichtenberg DO require a postage stamp IF the person sending it expects us to take it to the nearest USPS Post Office.

Our citizens buy stamps just to affix them to letters then they are brought to me or Johann who cancel them and then they are taken to the post office. We actually have a "post box" coming soon which letter from Lichtenberg are put in.

IF they don't have a Lichtenberger stamp they will be RTS. Mr. Karl Schroeder is actually our acting Post Master General and Minister of Posts. He is also the acting Postman for Lichtenberg. The stamps add a bit of legitimacy to the letter.

We actually got a reply from the President of Germany (the cover posted above).

But as I said before, if anything take the value of the art work that the Artist has put into them.
