The gum is clearly impressed with "PUDUKKOTTAI STATE".

Never seen anything printed into gum before - anyone else seen any others?

Yes, also some other Pudukkottai small revenue stamps used some print on the reverse.

In the India, also one Berar small revenue stamp is known with reverse print of stamp dealers.

In other areas, New Zealand stamps also have advertisements on the back.
