Spotted this interesting FDC with Kangaroo cachet on a website.

Little quiz, What do you think the asking price is ?

Bad advice, Skippy ... bad, bad, bad.

You should have said "Lie down! ... lie down and take one of those powders your grandma used to use."

No wonder I'm still a bottom feeder. Holy frell, I really need a lie down now ... and one of those powder thingies too. Sheesh. :(

I've seen this type of thing listed in auctions around the $100 to $300 range ... didn't expect thousands.

Right, thats it ! I'm about to throw in the towel because of all these high priced roo covers.

I thought roos would be a common symbol on covers and stamps and therefore picked up for pennies.

These high prices are getting silly.

Too many people are reading this thread and putting their prices up to catch Muruk and I

rant over : (I'm not really going to throw in the towel  )

Just repatriated from China:

1957 private maximum card. Sadly, not travelled.

Lucky. Bought from a Delcampe seller who was delisted after I paid ... but the card still came through. :D

Sorry Waroff, but for the kangaroos, I would have acquired this card for you. (For those not in the know, the CROYDON NORTH cancel would be of interest to Waroff.)

Sofia Zoo has some of those evil horned kangaroos ... but at least they made it to the high value stamp:

Muruk, the Benin M/S is also a scout M/s or guide (if you're so inclined.)

Hmmmm, nice design. But I made a conscious decision when I resumed collecting NOT to include PNCs.

Here's one that's been to Christmas Island:

Bought this today .... must be the very earliest PNC out there? With Roos on the cover AND the coin!

The special NUMISPAC item - UNC $1 new coin with Kangaroo, UNC outgoing $1 Banknote, and a 55c Defin cancelled May 14, 1984 First Day of the new coin.

Recall reading about these in CAB magazine, and think the market for them is quite solid, as not many done, or have survived. Added it to stock for $40 as I can't find the article!

Very Interesting !
It looks great, lots of Kangaroos on there

No information on the net that I can find, one sold on ebay last year (with toning around the stamp) same design as yours above

And I found a picture of this one with a different cancel
(sadly the cancel is out of focus, I can't make it out :? )

Sydney GPO, thanks.
I wonder how many different cancels there are.
That cover I showed was just a picture off the net, I don't have any information about it.

Funny, that Yarralumla one is using the 1966 round 50c coin (silver) and yet the PNC is dated 1969 , when I think the HEXIDECIMAL 50C coins were issued. ( I don't think there were 1967-8 , 50c coins.)

Waroff, it is the hexi 1969 coin. It just looks round because of the green background.

Are you baiting me again?

I am really sorry for delay in reporting to your query "Why didn't I swerve to miss him ( the emu)". The emu was not on the road as I aprocahed. A FRACTION of second before I hit him with his my car the emu turned around ( I saw him a few metres off the side of the road) and ran across the road in front of my car. Even a swerve would have collected the emu . They are tough, he stumbled and kept going across the road to the forest on the other side of the road.

What do they taste like? :) I've 'collected' the odd pheasant over the years, very tasty. :D
