Hello, recently I have gone through some stamps with foxing. I was wondering if I should clean my only stamp tongs before I use them with my pristine valuable mint stamps? If so, how? My apologies if this question sounds strange. Thanks Owen.

I don't think it's a silly question at all. I've made a habit of giving mine a dunk in boiling water, generally when I'm soaking a batch of stamps. It doesn't hurt them a bit...just your fingers

Hi

I pour 91% isopropyl alcohol over mine every now and then. A little rubbing with a clean cloth, or tissue, removes all the dirt and the alcohol acts as a sterilization agent.

Foxing is a living organism.

Handle foxed stamps, and spores are left on the tweezers.

Basic chemistry.

I clean mine a LOT!

Hi Glen,

Do you clean yours with boiling water, or isopropyl alcohol? Thanks for all the replies.

Water and a tissue to dry them seem to work for me. :)
