They always say that wherever the English go, we'll start discussing the weather...

It's another very pleasant morning here. A bit hazy at the moment, but the Easterly breeze we've had for the last few days had dropped. Expected to get up to about 20C/68F here this afternoon, remaining fine and sunny.

It rained quite heavily in my part of Melbourne yesterday. Didn't stop people watering their gardens though, just to drive the reservoirs towards 20 per cent full!!!!

Here in NE Ohio USA its 41 deg. f, partly sunny, 71 hi this afternoon.
The air is filled with birdsong, woodpeckers drilling and there is an aroma wafting my way of Morel mushrooms waiting to be harvested and I ain't allowed to go get them alone no more!
Need to train my dog to get them for me!
have a nice day! rain tomorrow.

Malaysian weather is doing havok to my sinuses. Very hot in the mornings, followed by 20 minutes or so of drizzle. Makes the whole place extra humid it literally saps the energy out of you.

Then in the evening the humidity hangs around you like a thick cloak making you sweat and smell before you can say Johnny Appleseed. The fact that there is no breeze makes it all the more unbearable.

Need to have the air-con in the nights otherwise I might find myself floating in my sweat. Weather's been like that for the last few days.

Charlie, we had classics written in comic form when I was a kid and one of them was about Johnny Appleseed. And also read about it behind the Johnny Appleseed stamp when I first saw this stamp in the US.

Toowoomba had 29C today, it's highest EVER May temperature. No rain in sight, and dams at 14%.

Luckily we have peel and stick stamps, because there isn't any spit to spare!

Noon on May 4 in Newfoundland: Rain, drizzle and fog at 4 degrees C. Arctic ice along the coast keeping everything cold. I'd say typical spring here but the ice is the heaviest its been in years. Should be a lot of bergs for the tourists though!

Yum sewage recycling, very tasty at least the 250,000 Aussies in London have already had a taster. Water over there is drunk at least 10 times by someone else apparently

No, recycling was knocked on the head last July 60%-40%. It was a completely botched referendum, and with the info available I'm surprised it was even that close.

However, it will come - Twmba is being included in the SEQ grid, and recycled water will be in there supposedly by the end of 2009.

Cloudy start here today for the Bank Holiday weekend, but the sun came out about 11am.

18-20C this arvo, so spent a couple of hours sat outside the pub with a pint (or three...), and caught a bit of sun. 8)

Very pleasant early evening now - still sunny, no breeze at all.

I was right. Started fine this morning, few spots of rain by lunchtime and absolutely honked it down for a couple of hours mid-afternoon.

"Shower or longer outbreaks of rain" is the Met Office forecast for Bank Holiday Monday...

and just repeat the forcast 9 times a year, has it changed in the past 250 years? are they worried that global warming might bugger up this long standing forcast?

Yep- same this morning....a big flock of cockatoos flew over this morning at about 6am and squawked the place down!

They are very beautiful birds but diabolically noisy and destructive. They systematically chomped their way through my TV aerial last year

Bet you haven't had that problem, Gavin!

No, no problems with cockatoos, but there are about 6 different sorts of gulls which seem to perform a similar service over here!!

Bright and breezy this morning, but it's just trying to rain now - another half-hour and I reckon teh Bank Holiday will live up (down!) to its reputation...

Wet and windy here this morning. Forecast to clear this afternoon...

...latest seagull report: this morning one of them was eating the cat's dinner, and the cat was sitting about 10 feet away just watching (mind you, 17-year-old cat v streetwise-seagull would be a no-contest!!!)

Rick that sound awesome. Do you want to swap places for 6 months :P
In Brisbane, Aust. we are having an incredibly dry spell and record high temps. for May. Very unusual and very sad, when our water reserves are dropping to critical levels.

Unless we have rain over the next "wet" season, Brisbane will be in dire straits....4 million people with minimal water for drinking and hygeine, not to mention the Industry requirements. Hopefully we can get decent rain, or at least rain that keeps us topped up until water recycling really gets going.

My son works in a hardware store and they get a delivery of rainwater tanks from their supplier once a week and they are snapped up within hours buy homeowners who would like to try top keep gardens alive.

Cheers

That must be a horrible situation Jeff. We complain a lot about the rain and fog here (it does get depressing) but at least our reservoirs are usually full. I'm interested in your comment about water recycling. What will that involve?[/quote]

Absolutely wazzed it down for a couple of hours yesterday!!!

Fine at the moment, but more rain forecast for this afternoon.

In England, if it rains for 3 days we have a flood alert. If it doesn't rain for 3 days, we have a drought alert. Not that we're prone to over-reaction or anything...

If it rains heavily for 2 hours non-stop in Kuala Lumpur, we may get a flash flood - no time for a flash alert actually. Has been really hot but it rained for the most part of the morning. The weather has become a little cooler but still humid. Malaysia has been getting a bit of these flash floods of late - could be the cause of global warming, overdevelopment, clogged drains, etc.

Hope you guys in Australia get some decent rain. Want to hire a witchdoctor (we call them bomohs) from Malaysia - no guarantee but I guess you can get refunds if it does not work.....just kidding. We have been known to use them during the football seasons in the past.

Cloud-seeding has been tried but sometimes these guys hit the wrong clouds or the clouds refuse to rain in the right spots.

I just drove home tonight after a nice meal and a few drinks through a long stretch of bushland in lovely light, steady soaking rain......you could almost hear the grateful plants soak up the rainwater....

Malacca had a flash flood after a 4 hour downpour. However, the Metrological Station warned Malaysians of further dry weather from June to September. We are going through some inter-monsoon change in winds or something.

Happy raining for Australia.

Maybe we should pump water from Newfoundland or England. Would that work? After all it is downhill all the way.

Politicians have not got my mastery of Physics. A few 1000 miles of PVC pipe - and problem solved.

Last 2 days here in Mackay Queensland have been darn awful. It has just kept raining off and on day & night. The temperature has dropped right down to about 20 degrees overnight. If it gets any lower I am going to have to take off my shorts and put on long pants. Absolutely disgusting.

Sunshine and showers here today, pretty much like yesterday.

"Severe Weather Warnings" earlier in SW England as 2" rain expected.

NB: A "Severe Weather Warning" is the Met Office's way of covering its backside following the almightly cockup when they failed to predict the "hurricane" of 1987...

Trust me if that was all they had in mind I'd be happy...more concerned about my TV aerial!
Good luck with the earthquakes

Drizzle here first thing, but plenty of blue in the sky now (10:45am). Hoping for a decent afternoon...

Been a decent day here. Bit overcast first thing, but bright and breezy from mid-morning onwards. Sunny afternoon and about 18C.

Just clouding over now as the sun is starting to go down...

Good night from England and good morning to Australia 8)

It is 5.22 am here and not surprisingly for winter it is dark. ;)

No sun. no rain, no cloud, no snow. :D

Steady drizzle here this morning. Typical seaside rain if you know what I mean.. It even smells like the seaside!
