1. Smoking - people have know since the 1960's it's harmful and may kill, so why do it. When people tell me how smart they are and light up a cigarette I subtract 20% from their intelligence quota.

BTW If coming to Canberra for the Stampshow 16-18 March there is NO smoking at outdoor cafes permitted in the Australian Capital Territory.

2. SUV's - automotive cancer from the USA, ugly, bulky, 'gas guzzling'. Usually the most arrogant drivers have these. They should be taxed doubly, not less as is the case in Australia.

3. Religion - caused more harm than good overall - think for yourself!

My pet peeves:
People ragging on us cigarette smokers. Any of them, but in particular the fat, overweight ones--how is your vice (fatty, cholesterol-laden, artery blocking foods) any different than mine?
Mind your own business, and I shall do the same.

One of the reasons I never picked up smoking is that I don't have to do anything others will do the no smoking issue for me and the cost is to expensive.

That is fine, but do be aware that your smoke affects others in your vicinity, and that non-smokers generally cannot bear the smell!

My 'vice', if I indulge it', of eating high-cholesterol foods affects nobody else in that way.

Mind you, we both contribute to youth employment by dying early

1. Same as Liquor, Diets, Gambling etc. Do we detract IQ points from them as well ?
2. Automotive Cancer ? Nobody holds a gun to anyone's head to purchase one. Here in the good old USA Fuel is relatively cheap

3. Agreed

Ah yes--we all must do our part in these tough economic times. Thanks for that, Tony.

There has been a recent case when a young lady texted that doing so was very dangerous, along with many other texts. She died in a crash a few moments afterwards.

After reading all these post I would have to say that agree with most of them.
Everyone has touched on most of my pet peeves and some of them, to me, are more than a pet peeve but a real problem that society has and is too busy sticking it's head in the sand or more realistically being swayed by the almighty dollar. We are all guilty of it to some degree (I include myself in this), society has conditioned us all to believe that success equals money/power. I believe success means something completely different and is as individual as we are ourselves. Unfortunately in this age of money, it is the only thing that makes the world go round.

So to sum up, the things the annoy me most are:

Political correctness - what is so wrong about calling a spade a spade?
Cotton wool children - eating dirt as a baby didn't kill me
Sexualisation of our children - there is nothing right about bras/makeup etc being aimed at girls under 10!
People who email someone and get an out of office response (annual leave) which advises to contact other peoples emails address'and the person continues to email the original asking why their email has not been replied to.

There are more but to be honest I would only be repeating what everyone else has said and people who just repeat things, is another of my pet peeves!

So if you are interested in looking at things from a different angle, I challenge you to look at the link below and see if anything strikes a cord.

Agree 100%, so what can we do to repair the situation before the military industrial corporations succeed in their insanity..as I read recently on a t-shirt..

'Armageddon was yesterday-today we have a serious problem'

..and I suspect that there will not be too many phoenix birds rising from the ashes in Siberia or anywhere else.

Here's one. When you see 5am (or 2am or 11am) in the morning.

It's similar to ATM machine.

Best not get me started, we'll be here until Christmas

Cheers,

Robert

I was just recently reminded of one.
My peeve is when the wife says we're going to or should do something that she has no intention of participating in. As in "WE should paint the kitchen".
I don't think she knows which end of the brush to hold.
