Sorry, uggh factor story follows:

I was happily checking a few stamps with my UV light on the desk last night and dropped a stamp on the floor. Warm nights, bare feet, reached down still holding my light and oh! :o

Did you know that UV on your toes makes the portion of your toenail (the bit that needs clipping) to glow a soft yellow? And any dead bits of nail on your toe.

Did you also know that if you have a bit of Tinea, (Athletes foot), that part of your skin glows bright orange?

Made applying the anti-fungal oil easy.

But now I have glow in the UV dark feet!

(You don't really want an image of that do you?)

If you don't believe me, simple, try it.

Actually I was just going to head off and research fungus. If you tell your Doctor the "colour" reaction he can then know which type he needs to treat! :D Seriously, I think it's a great idea.

A bit of research later. They already do! Using a "wood's" UV lamp. Interesting.

Greg wasn't it you that suggested rust can be treated by popping the stamps in the freezer for a few hours?

Did you try that with your feet?

How about you both find a lake.

I've never said to put stamps in the freezer to treat rust - that's just daft.
I have suggested to put mint stamps stuck to an album page in the freezer though. And that worked.

To avoid further confusion - the fungus on your feet is not the same as the "rust" on your stamps. My foot is not made of paper and the rust on my stamps does not glow bright orange. :D

For those of you who want a cheap and harmless treatment for athlete's foot (tinea), try what my Florida doctor prescribed about twenty years ago -- never had an outbreak since.

Make a mixture of 50% rubbing alcohol and 50% pasteurized white vinegar. Apply to the feet (especially between the toes) with a small brush several times a day. In three days, any initial signs of athlete's foot should disappear; it cannot tolerate an acidic environment.

The vinegar also causes slight exfoliation, which helps discourage corns and bunions.
