Good day to you all

Gavin-h provoked my rather twisted mind with a comment on pedantry in another thread and then after the idea had curdled for a moment.

What other courses you would have liked to have taken at school, college or university. Here is mine:-

Applied Pedantry

Well, I got kicked out of Metaphor University and ended up at Cliche College instead

That's where I took my course in Advanced Dossing on the Sofa

I think 'Advanced Lurking' would have been an interesting cirriculum perhaps with a minor in 'Mopery'.

Drinking for profit would be a great paper to take, a requirement for most university students. It would save me a lot of money on my student loan, allowing me to spend more on stamps.

I wish there was a Photo 3 & 4 course at my school. Now I can only use the darkroom after school once a week. :(

I would love to do some languages. But after I finish my degree, I won't have any spare HECS :(

A Tautology course in the Department of Redundancy Department may have been too repetitious.

To quote a classic line from Blackadder: "I have a degree from the University of Life, a diploma from the School of Hard Knocks, and several gold stars from the kindergarten of having the *%&$ kicked out of you."

I'll give you a primer in that one. Do it with a smile on your face. Most people are too dumb to realise

A course in procastrination would be nice. I may take one in a few years, or maybe not.

I love these answers.
Having taught about 20 different classes in 5 universities.
I love the "how women make sense" class could have been the best.

Courses I'd like everybody else to take: :D

How to drive a car without killing everybody else.
Why letting the call go voicemail is empowering.
It's not OK to chuck a tanty in the lolly aisle, you're 17 grow up.
Learn to accept "No", learn to say "sorry", learn to wait.

More courses for me:

How to answer "Does my bum look big in this?" and not spend a week in the dog house.
Does picking my nose in the car really make me a bad person? Or was Seinfeld just neurotic?
ADD, ADHD, ASD, Special, or just plain nuts. If everyone else is mad, why am I the only one without a white coat?
How to use a tazer and not leave a mark.

Blackadder has a MSc. in Electrical Engineering from The Queen's College, Oxford.

I, of course, knew that even the postage on the letters requesting the brochures/admissions information from any of the Oxbridge Colleges would have been a waste of money, given my academic skills and likely A-Level results.

I would have, however, liked to have studied A-Level Mathematics in secondary school. It would have given me more choices at University before becoming unsuccessful in the stamp business.

Kindest regards, Richard

I like your items 2 and 3.

The solution to item 2 is not to sit on a wooden chair, always an upholstered seat.

The solution to item 3 is to be able to maintain a look of absolute indignation without laughing/turning red.

My favorite French philosopher, René Descartes, came up with one of my favorite lines. (translated into English)

"I fart, therefore I am."

Former colleges have occasionally accused me of spending too much time proving my own existence.

Kindest regards, Richard

Whoops!

Cannot spell "colleagues" (substitute for "colleges" one post above) and intensely dislike the term "co-workers."
