But does his mother trust his abilities enough to go with him in the plane? :D

Hmm, guess she trusts him, any good mother wouldn't let their son do something that would worry them.

Yep, she trusts him. The bizarre thing is that he can fly a plane solo but still has to put the learner plates up in the car and can't drive solo for another year!

Must be no equivalent among pilots of road-rage, so the skies are a safer place. Statistics do say, is it not, that the chances of dying in a plane crash are smaller than an auto accident? And there was an airline that used the slogan "Fly the friendly skies."

I know that feeling SMSSLT as my son did the very same thing. He started flying at 14 years at RAAF Richmond (he was in aircadets so he was allowed). I often wondered as he flew over the roads, what would the drivers think if they knew there was just a kid flying over you

We won't even mention the time they have to nose dive no engine will we

No I have never flown with my son and never will, but that's me not him.

After teaching for 30 years, I have had thousands of kids.
Very few have been disappointing.
Many I am extremely proud to have known.
Including Middle East war veterans, Academy of Science members, etc.

I am also proud of my offspring - she was a restaurant manager at a prestigious Las Vegas establishment, now a "headhunter" in New England.

I have two daughters.
One is a doctor of veterinary medicine and has her own clinic
and has 5 adopted children, three of them siblings-and she runs
half marathons.
The other daughter is a registered surgical nurse-and married into a
wealthy family.
What more could parents ask ?

Just wanted to reprise this post...Here is "The Boy" now in all his glory, having earned his private license, he is now taking his commercial license. Last week he flew me into Avalon for the airshow. Amazing...and he has now learned to tie his shoe laces as well.
