I don't even really use the phone while driving. Exceptions are 15 second calls while stuck on red lights , to check out where and when I should meet someone, telling someone that I will be a little bit late, or basic info like that. Driving in Prishtina (Kosovo) is dangerous and erratic as it is, a mobile makes the situation 100% more dangerous....

Well here in Ontario it is illegal to text and drive as well as talk on a cellphone that isn't a hands free unit. Unfortunately we still see people doing this and can't get the cops to ticket them as they have to witness the infraction. Heck even the idiot that the populace elected mayor here has been caught and can't be fined as the infraction wasn't witnessed by the police

Yes, that's the unfortunate part. A lot of people are dong it, probably not aware of the consequences.
The most unusual thing that I saw on a highway, while driving to work, was a woman straightening her hair with a hair straightener.

In some cities they have banned walking and texting.

For the most part it's to stop the texter walking into walls and falling down stairs but also some pedestrian's keep stepping of the curb in front of vehicles and getting run over.

They have even released an app that uses the phones camera to show you where your going while you text!

Some poeple have no life.

Back in the 'old days' before cellphones, people used to read the newspaper while driving.

And what about CB radios? No different from a phone.

I was once rear ended by someone playing with their radio- I could see in my mirror his head was completely below the level of the windshield as he came up behind me at a light.

And you see people watching a movie on those small screens that clip onto the sun-visor.

The problem has nothing to do with cell phones- people always have found someway to have accidents.

New cars are now coming equipped 17" screens in the dashboard- so all your facebook friends can watch you have an accident in real time.

I see so many people texting and talking on the phone while driving. With the huge amounts of info in the media about the dangers of doing this, you would think the idiots would wake up and stop it before someone else gets killed.

Obviously the fines aren't a big enough deterrent for these people, so the fine should increase to $2000 or $5000 per offence, and after a few fines of that size hopefully they'll learn a lesson.

I hate to see unecessary death.

There's been streetcar and subway drivers in Toronto fired for using their mobile (cellphone) while operating a vehicle. The power of a mobile goes too ways--gives you the convenience to talk/type to people anytime, but also arms others with a camera to photo/video you committing the infraction. :o

One of the stupidest mail-order products I ever saw advertised was a portable desktop that clipped onto your car steering wheel.  According to the advert's photo, when you're a busy businessman in traffic, just click the board to the wheel, and you have a tabletop to spread your papers on.

Really? They usually end up with a lipstick shoved up their nose and into their brain.
