I just entered a post in another thread, which led me to thinking.........

We continually knock AustPost and the Royal Mail and the USPS etc. BUT there must be people in the service, we should THANK and give recognition to:

MY vote goes to my POSTIE, he is extremely courteous, and if the mail didn't fit in the old mailbox, he would hand deliver it to the door. He always has a kind word for the dogs, when he delivers- signed for mail- and gives them a pat and talks to them and me.

G'day Waroff49,

Looks like some things never change. Posties were courteous over 100 years ago and still are by your account.

Note that the postie doesn't need to buy a stamp!

Cheers, Reddog.

Although people living in Canada and Great Britain might not agree, those countries and their postal strikes are the best postmen. I collect postal strike material and I like it when the postmen strike, although it hurts people, butit is usually for a good reason.

I vote for my LPO operator.
Just this week I was expecting a registered, insured 10 gorilla envelope to arrive at my PO box when shock horror I noticed that the delivery suburb address instructions I had given was missing the word "North".
After ascertaining that it would hit the Mail Delivery Centre the next day, my LPO man got there at 5 a.m. and claimed it before it entered the local delivery "system".
How's that for service!!

But why does he Pat your dog and not you, there must be a law against doing that somewhere. :?
Also why does he talk to the Dogs first,

I think I would be having words to him and letting him know who is most likely to come up with a Christmas Box..
You or the Dogs,

Now there,s a thing,I wonder how many people still give the Postman a little Xmas Box,
:? :? :? :? :? :? :? :?

Well, here in downtown Maszki we are on a rural delivery route out of the Wojciechow Post Office.

There are 2 posties who alternate on this route and both are great. Also the service includes picking up letters from us ( together with the necessary postage) and taking it to the PO; they also will collect any payments for rates, utilities etc and pay them in at the PO; and also the PO still makes pension and other payments from the government, so the postie delivers the cash to individuals on their route (note, I said CASH- not a cheque or a bank deposit slip)

Old-time service with a smile.

And Yes, they still receive Xmas gifts- and deserve it.
