I am a member of another association, named "Vern Third World" which help people in difficulty, and we plan to build a school farm in Madagascar.

I prepared a detailed form to get help from EDF, the French electricity operator, and all projects are subject to an online vote to select those with the most "Like".

I know that this request has no relation with stamps, but it's as a stampboard member that I ask you for this little click: thank you very much if you can do that for Madagascar:

J'ai préparé un dossier pour obtenir une subvention aupres de EDF, l'opérateur français d'électricité, et tous les projets sont soumis au vote des internautes, pour sélectionner ceux ayant le plus de "Like".

While its a good cause, these online voting things are often rubbish. It just becomes a popularity contest, or worse, depends on how many friends/relatives/connections you can summon to click for you.

Asia's richest man--and one of the 20 or so richest in the world--Li Ka Shing decided a few years ago to give away truckloads of money to NGOs etc. But his way of doing it is completely flawed. Anybody can go to a website that was set up, create an event/project, list how much money they need, and the voting is thrown open. Collect enough "likes" and taa-daa, you get a cheque in the mail for the money you asked for.

Hence ridiculous things like "take a busload of seniors to a buffet meal" get funded, but support resources that will be used long-term by NGOs that help the disabled don't.

And don't get me started on the social-media campaigns, "click like to help this starving child/child who needs an urgent heart transplant/has terminal cancer."

Unfortunately, you're absolutely right aethelwulf, and I understand your position.
But if you do not play ... you can not win ... and there is no alternative: it is the sponsor who sets the rules !

In my proposal, be sure that:
- This is a true sponsor: the french operator of electricity
- This is a real issue: I personnally wrote these demand and filed the form
- It is a real cause: the people of this district of Antananarivo have nothing to eat and we teach them to make themselves their food
- This is a true association and the full amount collected is directly given to our actions on the ground
