I have a few of these fiscal specimens overprinted 'waterlow specimen' from the various Indian states, with punch-holes in many of them. I have no knowledge of these, their origin, their significance or their worth. Can someone help me please?

I shall upload these as and when possible here on these thread, I would really appeciate any details/input on these.

To start with, here's a Holkar Revenue Specimen.

Well, Safi, I know this material quite well.
These proofs were used by the Waterlow & Sons, Ltd. (English printing house) as a bussiness samples. They were specially made, most commonly in sheetlets of 9, either perforated or perforated. Waterlow sent them to various governments (not strictly to Commonwealth countries) with conditions of contract.

In single pieces they are worth about 10-15 USD each. In the complete sheetlets they are in the range of 100-150 USD.

From India states they are known from Alwar, Holkar, Sirmoor, Jubbal, Bahawalpur and maybe some others I don´t remember them now. Jubbal were issued in larger blocks as I have block of 15.

But please, do post here scans of what you have.

Ernesto, several Indian states ordered postage stamps and even more states also revenue stamps. They are engraved and looks very well especially when unused. :D

Yes, this Morvi proof is printed with "moire" background. Also quite common.

I forget to mention Morvi. Morvi has also samples without a small punch hole.
