Hi All,

I have these stamps with a "Ship Mail Room" cancels. Could someone tell me what they are about please, I haven't seen them before and know nothing about them....

For the type without a code number - I have recorded use from September 1923 to December 1938 (but there is probably other better sources of periods of use)

Does the Code No.4 have any significance? Does it add or detract from the scarcity?

My guess is that it is just an identifier for different handstamps.

With regards to adding / detracting from the scarcity - I have no idea.

I simply noticed that they were different handstamps and thought it worth mentioning :) :)

I found this censored "ship mail room" cover. My first, and perhaps last, kangaroo cover.

The number indicates the sales counter to which the canceler was assigned (from memory).
