I have just resumed posting images to 'A Visual Catalogue - ALL Australian stamps, 1913 to 2010'

http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=8394&p=1997445#p1997445.

Most of the images are obtained from the WNS and are of good quality. However, they do not generally provide images for self adhesive stamps and so I have used a variety of sources for those stamps.

Not all are of an acceptable standard and so I am seeking assistance from members in providing the Board with high resolution scans.

If you can do better than those already posted, or if you have mint copies of self adhesive stamps issued in the last 2+ years and can scan those stamps, please post them here or send them to me via Board email.

Your assistance would be muchly appreciated.

Does anyone have SG MS3188 (23rd Asian International Stamp Exhibition) because I am unable to find any image for that item?

Finally, there are many older items on the Visual Catalogue thread which have very poor images. If you can help us improve the quality of existing images please do so.

Thanks :)

Can anyone provide a scan (of the quality of the one above) of SG MS3217a? It includes Australia's Favourite Stamps.

Thanks

I repeat my request for assistance from members for good quality images.

Apart from the minisheet mentioned in the previous post we badly need help with Australian self-engraved stamps.

I am currently posting the Bicentenary of Postal Services in Australia stamps and they simply are not good enough. The same can be said for the Inventive Australia series.

So HELP PLEASE.

Kevin I don't have SG #'s after 2007 and I wasn't aware that a Miniature Sheet was issued with Australia's Favorite Stamp. But, a self adhesive sheetlet was issued - is this what you were refering to?

Thanks for the offer but ...

that is a gummed stamp and I have posted a good image of that. What is needed are images of the 10 self-adhesive stamps.

Thanks Michelle.

There is no end to the AP products which could be posted so we settled for images of stamps and minisheets. A few other products are mentioned but without images.

Having said that I think that your image is MS3217a. It is described in SG as 3213 x 8 and 3213/3217 and that is what is on your sheetlet.

Can anyone explain what is what here :?:

Kevin here you go.

These are SCARCE.

These say STAMPS .. all the normal common peel and stick say STAMP - singular.

These are in SG already at £12.

I sell them at $135 per 10 wholesale, as no-one seems to know they exist.

From an introductory post:
There is a wealth of knowledge contained within the various forums here and I hope that at some point I may be able to contribute.

Cheers
Michelle

This is not your first contribution but it is an important one and very much appreciated.

Not a problem Kevin. If you post the dimensions you are using to resize the images, I'll try and resize them for you before posting should you need any others. Save you some time and effort with the task you have undertaken.

Thanks Michelle.

All of the images posted by me (on the Visual Catalogue thread) use the Photobucket size of 320 x 240. If you scan and save just for this thread that would be fine. If you already have scans done just use those and I will adjust.

All images have now been posted up to SG 3383 20 April 2010, which is the last entry in the Stanley Gibbons Australia catalogue. Some additional entries will be posted soon but not many as we must first be sure of the entry order determined by SG.

1stStamp (Michelle) has assisted me with some items but there are still quite a few self-adhesive sets where the images in my posts are not good enough. They include the following SG nos:

3193 - 3196
3213 - 3217
3229 - 3233
3242 - 3246
3253 - 3257
3280 - 3284
3292 - 3297
3318 - 3322
3323 - 3327

If anyone has high resolution images of the individual stamps in these sets please post them here.

Many thanks

Kevin you certainly have been busy over the Easter break! I think you have done a mighty job.

I don't know that these are that much better than your scans but they are here for your consideration.

I will need to do some "housekeeping" to progess past this issue, I'm afraid 2009 was a bad year for me I seem to have scanned things in a somewhat hapharzard manner.

And having alreading posted the "Australia's Favorite Stamps" issue - the "S" may be problematic.

Take your time Michelle. 8)

There is already an image there anyway. It is easy for members to see the design of the stamp from the gummed variety and all of the perfs are the same as others already shown.

So the short-term is covered and we are only looking to make this a high quality long-term resource.

I was interested to look through this as I've never seen, & never likely again, to see any of them.

I was motivated to go to the main thread & check the George V. Bit difficult to work out what's not there. Are you interested in the 'sub' numbers, i.e. letters as well? I can see e.g. that the 1d rusted & substituted cliches are not there. I might be able to help, but I wouldn't have a clue what the current S.G. nos are.

Anyway it's a very worthwhile project.

.

Thanks mobbor

It is far easier to say what is there. The thread contains one image of every stamp given a seperate number by Stanley Gibbons in its Stamps of the World Simplified Catalogue.

This means there are many thousands of stamps and related products which are not included in the threads. Those specialising in those items need to refer to more detailed catalalogues like the Australian Commonwealth Specialist' Catalogue.

Recent issues have many varieties and we only list gummed stamps, self-adhesive stamps and miniature sheets. It would be a huge job to illustrate and describe every item currently being issued by Australia Post.

It is also appropriate to visit threads such as http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2236 as well as this forum http://www.stampboards.com/viewforum.php?f=33

I am about to start posting the remainder of 2010. I have all the details now but not sure yet about the images. Will post any needs here as I come to them.

Does anyone have a good image of SG 3426. It is the gummed version of the Bay of Fires stamp. I have used a self-adhesive version but it needs to be replaced.

This time I need help with the gummed set of 'Adopted and Adored' Dogs. For some strange reason WNS have gone away from their policy of showing the gummed versions so this time I have all of the peel and stick but none of the 'normal' types.

I will refrain from posting images for a day or two to see if anyone can supply them.

thanks

No problems Michelle, we can only do one thing at a time.

There will be a few more for 2010 and I will let you know. I notice that the 'Occasions' images you have supplied are better than the ones I already had so when we have finished I might go back and have a look.

I don't want to strain the friendship too much, but the better they look the happier I am. Once again thanks. :D

Here we go again!

Can you please give me an image for the self-adhesive of SG 3479 $2.20 Olave Baden-Powell (founder) - pretty please :)

Although I am not up to them yet I will also need the self-adhesives for the long weekend and rescue to release self-adhesives when you have time.

The Visual Catalogue of Australian stamps is now complete to the end of 2010. See http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=8394&p=2058296#p2058296

Many thanks to 1stStamp and others who have helped with this task.

Catalogue details for 2011 will gradually become available as editions of Gibbons Stamp Monthly are released. At the moment WNS (http://www.wnsstamps.ch/en) have only provided images for 11 stamps and I suspect we are over 100 already so we may have quite a wait.

There will still be a need for members to provide images for most self-adhesive stamps so this will continue to be a combined effort by Board members.

Kevin, I am getting to hate photobucket - it is being a real resource cruncher today and I have no idea why.

Photobucket can be like that sometimes.

You can have a rest now for a while as we can't proceed without more information from SG and other images from WNS.

It is like medicine, not so painful in small doses.
