The bush Huntsman is a lot darker with a larger body.
Here is one I spotted recently outside the house.

Must have been tired, the nice wasp is helping it up the wall

For those who might not know, the "kind wasp" has paralysed the spider, then drags it back to a hole already prepared, drags in the spider, lays its eggs, which hatch and feed on the still live spider.................Amazing how the wasp can drag such a large load. :shock:

Thanks for the advice about the bed snakes......I think.....Just wondering if a snake could work out the doggie door for the lure of an electric blanket?

BTW- I'm not anti-snake. Even cuddled one in Darwin on the weekend but I just prefer them at a distance when I'm at home .....

That's either a very large wasp or the world's smallest huntsman spider. :shock:

Heat seeking capabilities are mostly confined to the pythons, vipers and rattlesnakes. We don't have vipers and rattlesnakes in Australia, so you are only likely to end up with a python as a bed snake. Not venomous and usually not aggressive to humans.

That's a python in your picture. Looks like Antaresia childreni, Children's Python. Named after scientist John Children, nothing to do with being particularly suitable for children.

The original spider may be a Coastal Golden Orb Weaver.

And everyone should learn to love their Huntman's. They do no harm, but feast on other spider nasties.
