1951 Australian ½d coin 'No Dot'. Help needed!

Would some knowledgeable person please inform me about this coin.
Is this the 1951 'No Dot' ½d coin? If so, where is the dot actually missing from, and what do the small letters PL after PENNY mean?

The dot appears after the Y - but this is not the no dot variety.

The PL indicates it was minted at the London Mint, as were some of the penny, threepence and sixpence for 1951 (only).
