This sheet of 10 stamps showed up at the bottom of an estate box folded and hidden amongst some trash envelopes. I assume they are petrol rationing stamps from WW2 but there are several unanswered questions and I would appreciate any help stampboarders could offer. they are as you can see printed with Western Australia but it says they are valid in any state this seems strange to me.

The sheet is rouletted and there are no roulette marks on the outer edges so I assume it is a full sheet.
If anyone can give me more info on the story of this oddity I would be greatly appreciative.

Printed in sheets of 10 as per your scan.
WA issued B series values of 1 , 2 , 5 , 10 and 44 Gallons
There is a superb catalogue produced by George Shea of
"Petrol Rationing In Australia"
Not sure who carries it , someone might be able to fill you in on this.
Cheers

I know a member of my local club has a superb collection of these which he showed at a club meeting a few months ago. It was fantastic hearing from some of the club about their experiences using these as well.
