Just had a note from E-Bay to say that a stampcollectorboz lot I had put a bid in for has been struck out because the listing 'violated E-Bay policy'. I now notice that at least two other boz lots have been withdrawn for the same reason.

Meanwhile, John Bozic emails me advising that he has been 'hacked into for the second time in six months' and this, presumably although he doesn't actually say so, is why he is currently off-line and perhaps offside with E-bay.

And there's me thinking that even E-Bay must have had enough of his outrageously misleading advertizing.

Any clues on what the violation was?

Hi The Pom,

No, just E-Bay's comment that the listing breached policy. But it sure didn't say anything about the poor bugger having been 'hacked'.

Now, I'm not ordinarily a suspicious bloke, but the 'hacking' excuse looks to me to be a bit of damage control.

I reckon the Great Guru Glen will have a better inkling of what's going on than me.

Being bent isn't necessarily a misdemeanour on eBait, more than likely he lodged a protest against the eBait "YOU MUST USE PAYPAL " uberlords on their Community Chat Boards.

They've created a monster of their own choosing.....

E-bay feedback now has the message "no longer a registered user" against feedback previously posted by Boz.

That means he's now de-registered to buy and sell on eBait...until he pops up under another alias, as many eBay miscreants do.

But knowing how eBait security protects us all from the nasties, we can all sleep soundly in our beds tonight

Must be a lot of people that aren't using adequate protection or that just decide to randomly click on links in emails.

Boz has sent out a message which says in part:

Quote:
In the last 2 weeks another three bidders known to me have been hacked into and their accounts taken over. There must be a lot more going out there, that we don't know about.

The same as last time i will be back on ebay but will concentrate on less expensive items, this will not attract the same attention as before.

According to someone I know who bought from him recently:

"He did email me to reassure me that all is ok. Apparently someone hacked into his eBay account so he had to have it shut down to minimize damage.

He says he will be back shortly".

If I did get hacked into Id never admit it (unless others were at risk and I had to).

Stupid thing to say IMO

How does that foster public confidence in your business ???

More like got rolled by ebay for passing on their paypal fees - not something they want discussed at present.

Yes, just under a year ago.

Claimed he'd been hacked + that he'd voluntarily closed his ebay account while he sorted things out.

Was out for 2 or 3 months in the end.

STAMPCOLLECTORBOZ has been re-registered on EBAY.

I rang him as I had an outstanding payment due to him that I did not pay due to him being de-registered!

He told me that he will now be listing in the very near future...

Sorry I don't get it either.

How can a stamp be stated as "SUPERB UNHINGED" and "faultless" at $900 minimum bid, and yet have quite heavy toning bands on the gum, around where the very obvious rectangular large hinge once was - before it was carefully peeled off, and also stil have clearly visible writing on the back someone has attempted (un-secessfully) to rub out?

~ ~ ~

10/- Roo Acsc 48B~SG43a 3rd Wmk MNH SUPERB

TRULY A FANTASTIC STAMP. A BEAUTIFUL and faultless stamp.

You gotta wonder how this guy has 100% positive feedback.

Maybe things will change under the new rules where buyers won't have to worry about retaliatory negs. We'll see.

Hello

Just seen that John Bozic (stampcollectorboz) is back in business, we will see how he goes this time around. :? :?

From now on anything anyone has in defective mint hinged, can be termed "MNH .............geeeeemmm" with a new term to me, as "GUM ZONED" ....

I.E. ... "That's not a hinge remain .... it's gum zoning".

Unfortunately relisted to avoid David's link, but alas, not revised.

What about the missing corner? (not to mention the centring)

I think the white background has been used to conceal this.

At least put it on a black background, keep your comments to yourself and let the bidders judge.

Not fair to buyers in my opinion.

Fair Dinkum .. this con-man should be charged with FRAUD for describing the 4th rate defective CRAP as this in the heading:

4d Roo ACSC 15A~SG6 1st Wmk Orange MLH SUPERB

And the SEVEN bidders for it (so far) all need to seek immediate psychiatric advice.

All 4 defective and chewed perfs, however, MORE DIFFICULT TO OBTAIN AS THE PRESSURE CONTINUES TO INCREASE ON DEMAND FOR QUALITY MATERIAL.

But at least the money keeps rolling in ..... that's all that matters.

Well, at least the internet has provided a window to the world on what is going on, and knowingly so in front our eyes.

I've just flushed $69 down the toilet in sympathy, to see how it feels. ......

"Liberating".

[Trouble is, I'll get done by the council for inappropriate sewerage usage].

Cheers,

Mitch

Seriously - someone told me this week he'd noticed that at least stampcollectorboz has toned down some of the quite fraudulent looking "alleged retail" descriptions he has been using for years - on his NEW listings on ebay.

I know one very large dealer has been chiding him to tone that area down for ages, 'for his own good' I recall were his words.

The commentary made on this board, and in magazines etc, maybe has bought home to him he would still sell quite a bit of material if he quoted ACTUAL retail and not TEN times true retail ,as occurred above on the 4d roo quite recently.

Doing the latter simply hurts the stamp hobby for ALL of us.

The bunny buyers take a total bath when they sell, and get a tiny fraction what they paid - when they THOUGHT they were buying "under retail" - and they bad-mouth stamps forever to all they speak to.

Highly reputable dealers like Richard Juzwin offer this 4d Roo stamp openly for $63 including GST just for the poor centering, and he would take $10 or $20 due to the ripped off corner. As would most savvy real dealers.

Telling the Bunnies in writing this stamp is "retail $150-$200" is not only bordering on fraud many might say, but IS knowing fraud - especially if done on a regular basis, by someone who clearly is a large and long term dealer in such goods.

List it up with a photo. Drop the "SUPERB" nonsense below for 4th rate dogs like this. And if Juzwin retail is $60 including GST for poor centred - say "retail $60". Not "$150-$200".

That is fair, that is honest, that is ethical, and that is making for an informed buyer market. Which is good for stamps.

If Richard, or I, or any other real dealer ran that photo with that alleged retail price on a regular basis, we'd be tossed out of all the trade bodies we belong to. FAST.

State the TRUE retail for that centering. THEN if some dope pays more - well too bad for the buyer.

It will not then be the fault of stampcollectorboz in any way, and his name would likely never appear here, or in print. End of story.

As I typed in my last article he does offer some nice stamps, and just let the stamps sell themselves on their merits. If they are nice they will sell well. Fibbing about alleged retail, or stating things are "SUPERB" or "wonderfully centred" when they are clearly not, just encourages many potential buyers to stay away - many folks have told me that as a FACT.

Huffing and puffing behind the scenes about stampboards and Glen Stephens etc gets him absolutely nowhere, except loses him even more credibility I'd suggest. The: "where there is smoke there is fire" human reaction.

John Bozic seems to resent being "mentioned in dispatches." The solution to that is totally in his hands. The quick way to stop that occurring is keep taking the advice he appears to have heeded - if the info above is correct, that his stated "retail" prices might now bear some close resemblance to what dealers like Juzwin really change.

If that is true, it is great to hear, and I'll be the first to applaud it, if it occurs on an ongoing basis. That will be good news for the Australian stamp hobby, if buyers are better informed before bidding.

Boards like this can then forget all about him, and focus on the real problem of the local forgery gang who still seem active on ebay, and others who are scamming collectors with fakes etc.

Glen

Has John Bozic had another hacker in his system?

He has only one item listed today, last time I looked (yesterday) he had over 70 items listed.

You are right - there is only one:

http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/stampcollectorboz

Perhaps his main scanner has broken down, so that appallingly centred 3rd grade junk like this below can't be scanned onto white backgrounds - to try and disguise how atrocious they really are? :) :)

When you see this cunning seller offer something on a white background, (see the 4d above!) you KNOW it will be a shocker.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290293775658

Image

As has been posted here many times, Bozic should be charged with FRAUD, and deliberate intent to deceive, for offering this kind of crud as "FANTASTIC" as he just has:

FANTASTIC. NICE POST OFFICE FRESH IN EVERY WAY. LOVELY PERFS. LOVELY FRESH GUM. FAULTLESS. MELBOURNE ADVERTISED DEALER PRICE LIST MARKET $275 .

He quotes the Juzwin retail of $275 for well centred copies, when Juzwin's list clearly - in PERFECT English says:

"Off centred stamps - deduct 50% off these prices"

That ebay description is then deliberate, calculating, and pre-meditated FRAUD - designed only to con the clueless ebay buyers - and he knows it - but he has done it HUNDREDS of times. Juzwin full retail is actually $137.50 for this junk grade, and like me Richard would doubtless give this ugly dog to you for even less.

So guess what - dopey bunny newbie vgaddaffi08 pays $113 for a stamp any REAL stamp dealer would be delighted to see an offer of even $100 for.

If vgaddaffi08 went to SELL this dog today, to any REAL dealer he'd get offered $25 or so .. if he was LUCKY, as no REAL stamp dealer wants to buy this kind of crud any any price. In this market you'd be lucky to get $40 retail for this one.

He's fixed the description already. My comments above were a direct cut and paste.

He will I am sure blame it all on Stampboards .. as usual. Like his dandruff, his sick potted Ficus, and his leaky kitchen tap. :)

He never learns from history sadly.

A wise person once told me - "We all make mistakes. Only idiots do not learn from making them."

If only he did not lie and fib in descriptions, he would attract a ton more clients - and bids.

Among the frantic new listings tonight is this 2nd grade centred stamp:

http://cgi.ebay.com/1937-DIE3-KGVI-3d-BLUE-MLH-SUPERB_W0QQitemZ300303543430

Image

The usual false hyperbole and fiction claims - and the white background, is the giveaway he is fibbing for sure -

SUPERB MLH - What a fantastic STAMP, fresh and clean, good centering FOR THIS ISSUE. FAULTLESS. GREAT centering and perforations for this ISSUE.

John .. and we know you read EVERY word posted here, but just do not have the cojones to sign up yourself under your real name - this is OFF CENTRE ..... full stop. End of discussion.

It is NOT good centering for this issue. Perfs touching at base is NOT good centering for a post war issue! YOU know that - and WE all know that. And even most of the ebay Bunnies know that by now. So you are fast running out of cannon fodder.

This issue is no worse centred than ANYTHING from this era!

And he calls it a 1937 3d Blue.

It was issued in November 1940.....

Since this appears to be pick on Bozic week, I might as well join in the fun. here is part of the description of the 5/- 'roo telegraph.

Quote:
RETAIL FOR THIS STAMP IS $425+++. OUTDATED 2004 BW ACSC CV $450. SG CV £250=$625.

Now Mr Bozic, apart from having a broken capslock, here are the following lies in your description:

RETAIL FOR THIS STAMP IS $425+++

Complete lie. Retail (Juzwin presumably) is for a fine used postally used copy. You do know what postally used means don't you John? After all, you are not just pretending to be an innocent collector to avoid GST, and operate a business outside of the Australian taxation laws are you?

OUTDATED 2004 BW ACSC CV $450.

Another complete lie. John have you read the ACSC? Can you read? I think if you look very, very, very hard, you might find a part in it which provides for a specific discount for telegraph punctured 'roo stamps. And I think that it is about 80% discount off postally used. This makes your stamp around the $90 retail mark AT BEST.

SG CV £250=$625

Strike Three Let's look at my trusty 25 year old pocket calculator:

Today's median rate for sterling (John you do understand that this means the British Pound I hope ), from my Geelong Advertiser is

$A1 -= 48 pence. So, using my trusty calculator, £250 = $A520.00, not $A625.00 making yet another flat out lie in this listing.

Three flat out lies in one small paragraph. Pretty good, even for you.

Thanks for the anticipated corrections in your listing so that you can preclude further accusations of attempted fraud by misrepresentation. Ebay will just love to know about this listing. They adore this sort of publicity, especially when they are doing so well at the moment.

You're nose must be getting extremely long by now.

You are welcome.

Norm

No it isn't. Aside from the cancel, it's grubby left wattles bottom left stamp, in front of King's face bottom right stamp, behind the Roo top left stamp.

OUTDATED 2007 BW ACSC CV $60 FOR A CTO SINGLE

Pack of utter rubbish. The CV of a single CTO ½d Orange CofA wmk is $15, not $60.

There is no reason to suspect that this is anything other than postally used. Even if a random bloke got this cancelled per favor at Cassilis PO, it still isn't BW69w because, as you well know, the ACSC Catalogue values are for MELBOURNE CTO officially issued by Australia Post.

Pathetic.

He appears to have TOTALLY lost the plot here with this horrible looking off centred dog, calling it -

MNNNNNNNNH SUPERB. ABSOLUTELY FAULTLESS. Beautiful in every way. IF YOU NEED A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY it will be $15.

As to the alleged "Certificate Of Authenticity" - I think he actually means: "A John Bozic personal and biased opinion, for which I will change you $15, on top of whatever crazy amount you bid for this DOG based on my deliberately misleading ebay description".

He is not licensed or authorised or approved by anyone on this globe, to write or issue any "Certificate Of Authenticity" - on any stamp, at any time. Full stop.

Clearly his grading standards are basically non existent. You may as well ask your gardener or hairdresser to write a "Certificate Of Authenticity" - it will probably cost you less, and be just as meaningful and accurate.

Postally used 4 x Halfpenny. What does that equal? Why, it equals Twopence! Want to guess what the letter rate was in 1939? Hint! Don't go any further than adding up this block!

He states that his scans form part of his description, meaning (I suppose) that if the fault is obvious then don't return as misdescribed!

I really wish it were possible to take action against people who deliberately, fraudulently, misdescribe stamps and cheat the bunnies who really don't know better. I wouldn't even think of buying this block, given it's obvious condition.

I take the view that if he scans something on a white background that there is perf damage or centreing issues (or both). He does, occasionally, scan on a black background...so his scanner must be capable of it!

Cassilis is about 70km's from here. In the 1870's it had a population of 70, and has a population of around 100 today. It never had a gold rush, so I doubt that the population was ever much more. I can't for the life of me imagine the Postmaster in a village that size getting a request from a stamp collector for a CTO block of four!

Ran into Bozic at the Petersham dealers "fair' yesterday. Saw him at the Philas auction a couple of weeks ago as well. Twice in one month is just tooooo much for me :?

He must be stocking up on the cheap stuff and real dealer's dross items to sell at his over inflated prices :!:

Looks like Boz may have added selling re-perforated Roos to his 'Customer Service' experience?

This £1 Gray was offered by Prestige mid March 2009 being a generous donation to the Bushfire Victim Fund, and sold for $A260. They honestly stated it had short perfs, and they honestly stated retail for good MLH copies is $825.

http://www.prestigephilately.com/catlot ... de=k3&lim=

A fortnight later it magically appears to be an ebay lot from stampcollectorboz - indeed the bidding is already good for it.

It appear to be the same stamp - but now crudely re-perforated on all 4 sides in my view.

These are totally untouched images - taken directly from both Prestige and ebay - as you can see.

It has changed from a real world defective $260 stamp of "retail $825 with short perfs" - to "SUPERB $1250++++ with magnificent perfs" - i.e. :

MLH SUPERB

"extremely fine fresh, sharp color with magnificent perfs. YOU WILL BE LOOKING FOR A LONG TIME TO FIND ONE AS GOOD AS THIS. A fantastic stamp. Melbourne retail for this quality and excellence is $1250++++.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1-Roo-Acsc-53A-S ... 0303995605

There seems no doubt to me the stamps are (or were) the same .. the same small gray ink dot in RH margin opposite Thursday Island.

The small colour island in ocean near Perth, the flaw in top left corner, accent flaw on first A, the white line over POUND, the exact same watermark positioning etc. What do others think?

Seems sad the Bushfire Appeal - of all venues is where material for this kind of thing might possibly be drawn from?

The donator is stated to be 'Warren Beeby' in the Prestige write-up, who I know from a contact there is a senior News Corp Executive in Oz. I wonder if he would be pleased to see his donation suffer such a fate, if this is indeed the same stamp?

I've seen Boz offer a LOT of high value stamps lately with similar odd looking perfs, which looked very curious, but of course one never knows if they have been there for decades, and I had nothing to compare them against.

This one stuck in my mind, as I had planned to bid on it at Prestige, and the poor perfs deterred me.

Do these look like the same stamp to others here?
