Australian First WMK Specimens. These were hand stamped, but all subsequent issues were machine printed.

Unfortunately, a little worse for wear!

Image

These were sold in Specimen sets (price £1) by the Post Office, all values 5/- and below being CTO, as this example.

Specimen postcard issued by Stirling, New Zealand for the 10th Anniversary of the Moon Landing of Apollo 11. Dated 21 July; some countries record the date of the landing as the 20th because of the International Date Line.

Germany, Soviet Zone local - Luebbenau.

This is a "Black Print", presumably taken after the plates were removed from service, as the plate has clearly been defaced across the centre of the stamp.

Michel mentions Proof printings and this value was proof-printed in black as well as the issued green.

But my example is clearly not a proof copy in that sense, as the plate could not have been defaced before being used to print the regular stamps.

Here are a nice pair of Australian stamps. SG 1298. $1 Australian Broadcasting, Overprinted specimen..

They were postally used on a letter from Australia to UK, but unfranked. You can see part of the uk cancel at the foot.

Yes I did see the complete letter. I never noticed the specimen overprint on the stamps before they were kindly removed and given to me.

Doh ?.

Not valuable, but would have been far more interesting on the letter. Went for an eye test soon after. I now wear glasses.

This is as good a place as any to mention this one.

Spotted this on eBay as item number: 230687326519 Seller: obi-wan50 106 views.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1-x-2-Pound- ... 0687326519

This was obviously snuck in and cancelled per favour.

Currently sitting at US $31 with 15 minutes to go.

Image

The item made US $46.00. A pretty cheap oddity.

Note it has a missing top right corner and pulled perf at the base.

Added this cutie to stock today.

GB 1876 Judicature Fees 5/- Imperforate QV “SPECIMEN†margin block pristine *MUH*: An amazing piece that has been in the UK all its life until this year, hence the clean white pristine shape for 135 years old!

Fresh MUH original gum. The “FEES†double lined watermark clearly showing in margin – as you can see. Wonderful â€Scales Of Justice†watermark on each stamp.

Billys - some nice pieces.

You need to get a new scanner and change your settings somehow. They all look very "watery" and wish-washy to me?
