Post an image here - you'll get lots of opinions. (I'm new to actually using StampBoards and am hugely impressed!)

Yes, then I realise that I'm looking at the wrong country.

... you go to the supermarket to take advantage of a 2 for $5 offer and there's only one item left.

Shouldn't this thread be in the water cooler forum?

No, it shouldn't have been.

I didn't take the opening post as an invitation to finish the sentence with something else from life. I took is as he hates not finding the stamp he is trying to look up.
Everybody else read it wrong and went off on their own tangent!

Hey SailorTzipi,

Yeah, it just happened to me. Check out this short thread : viewtopic.php?f=10&t=33887

It was embarrassing. I kept looking right at the listing and missing it partly because there was no picture and partly because I was just too tired after messing with stamps all day.

As Allanswood says perhaps you are looking in the wrong country,,I still find myself doing that even after dealing for 30 years,

Sometimes you have to look for "Type" stamps, that means stamps that look like what you have,as only a small % of stamps are actually shown, you have to check under where you think they should be and read all the descriptions at the bottom of the listing,
Also some stamps that look like stamps are listed in the back of the country under Postage Dues, etc,

Well, in that case, the heading breaches the rule on specificity. :P :P :P

Don't say it out loud ... you'll break your tongue thing.

One or two I might be but the rest I'm pretty sure. I'll scan them in later today and you can see if I'm wrong.

I believe the Algerian stamp is from 1957 listed as Scotts # 284

The Albanian is a cinderella. Check out the stampboards postings: viewtopic.php?t=17972

The Argentine ski jumper could be from 1970's either Scott 991 or 938 but in truth I'm killing my eyes trying to see the detail of all the stamps. Could you rescan at a much higher resolution and I'd be happy to check my catalogs.

That's the largest size I can post on the forum. Any bigger and I have to re size it. I can post the link to photo bucket if that will help?

Give it a try but I think the problem for me is the detail/(dpi) not the size. I'll look.

Mr. Boggler,

The "control" feature works but I'm still having problems seeing the detail in 3-4 of them.

Sailor Tzipi

I tried the "control" / mouse feature and have some more suggestions:

Afghanistan 1962 Scott #629
Argentina 1936 Scott #443
1974-76 #1034 or 1977-81 # 1164 for the 50c black and yellow
1977-81 Scott # 1160 for 10c blue and black

Thanks to mrboggler. I can't see enough to make out the rest.

Another suggestion I can make is,
As Sailor is in SCOTLAND I would doubt that she is using Scott, most likely Stanley Gibbons,

Here is a link to the original scan. You can zoom in quite close and the picture is still ok.

OK .. looking at the original scan I believe the second stamp labeled "Anguilla" is from St. Kitts-Nevis; possibly 1980 issue Scotts # 399. There is no picture, just a description of "Nisbet Plantation"

The Austrian is from a 1957-61 series, Scott # 622

And check out this posting :www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=23814 on stampboards which identifies the stamp as SG 1300 or SG1385

Lastly, for your upside down San Martin look at 1969-70 Scott # 890

Welcome to the wonderful world of stamp collecting SailorTzipi !!!

Had a quick look found some,
Afganistan you will find in the Appendix listing at the end of Afganistan
I think it is 1962 Asian Games from a set of 11.

Austria is from 1957 Building set S.G. 1302.

Argentina the 40c Mauve is S.G. 658 Sugar Cane.

the 10 c Blue and whit is S.G. 1536
the 50c Yellow and black S.G.1540 both from the same set.in 1977.

hope this help a bit.
