What is a Hobby?

This comes out of another thread, where it was suggested that my "Movie Hobby" was not a hobby (some would say it is an obsession).

I buy DVDs, watch movies in the theatre (not often these days), buy books about them, haunt IMDb when I am not here, get a product which has 16 dedicated Movie Channels, study, critique, analyse, check Box Office results, pester everybody to death about them, and make bad off topic Movie Puns on every thread where I can get away with it.

Like many things, Golf, Stamp Collecting, Movies, Fishiing, well, make your own list, it can be a Hobby or a Profession. I am just interested in anyone who agrees that my hobby (obsession) with Movies is not a hobby?

I always thought if you spent time and/or money on something other than work, and you earned no income from it, then it is a hobby.

We ran over a sparrow the other day. It's in the freezer, waiting for Christmas, but I'd be happy to donate it to the G.O.M.C. :lol:

If you provide the steam roller, then yes - only 55¢ postage, and it's all yours! :lol:

I wonder if collecting Roadkill could ever be classed as a hobby? It would not fit really well on Hagners, and would tend to smell a tad after a while. Keeping it all in a Freezer is not a hobby, it is hoarding.

Roadkill stew might be interesting, but, well, I would pass and wait for the sweets.
