Hallo to all,
I'm Miriam from Italy, I collect turtles about 15 years.
I work in cataloging of Turtles Meter Stamps
I have cataloged about 230 meter stamps with turtles, and I search forever for new images and new items for my collection.
I collect also meter stamps and letters from cities that have "turtle" in their name (turtle lake, turtletown, turtlepoint and all other)
my collection is about 150 meter stamps (cut or letter)

Not a particular interest of mine but have made both sites 'favs' so that I can keep checking back on them. The Canadian meter postmarks were a pleasant surprise. I haven't seen them as yet.

No turtle meters from Papua New Guinea do exist!

You might want to contact the Schildpaddencentrum in the Netherlands. They might have their own meterstamp.

I'm looking also for turtle place names and turtle postoffice in the world with "turtle" in their name.
you know indian cities with turtle or tortoise in their name?
in hindi the word turtle is Kachhu?

Wow... that means you have quite an extensive knowledge of the subject

Hindi for turtle is " Kachhua". My mother tongue is Bengali, its " Kachhap" in Bengali. And considering the number of languages in my country.... well the possibilities are immense...

Hi

Recently got this postmark from a place called " Kachua" in Nagaon district of Assam. Actually letter came in a cover, but due to Assam floods the cover was damaged.
Kachua means Turtle in Hindi and other Indian languages.

Also a nice FDC from Bangladesh with Tortoise stamps and cancel.

yes, the cover is not great, but is a "new" for my collections.

postal rate to foreign are are very high in Italy.
for INDIA
prioritary letter 0/20gr euro 1,60 - registered mail euro 5,60
prioritary letter 21/50gr euro 3,30 - registered mail euro 7,30
prioritary letter 51/100gr euro 4,00 - registered mail euro 8,00
prioritary letter 100/250gr euro 7,00 - registered mail euro 11,00
to follow, again .... most weight, more cost....
very high prices.....

for Australia, a normal letter 0/20gr is 2,00 euro and 6,00 for registered mail!!! crazy priceS!!
think that in France, to send the same letter you spend half!!!

I do not have embroidered stamp, unfortunately I live in a small country and in my area there are shops of philately.
But not recommend to use it for postage. would be stolen...... it happened in the past.
