PS. This title is shown at lower centre of this cinderella, around the maltese cross (see images of the seal in my preceeding posts) and thus shows this 'seal'to be of Canadian origin. Chris Wren

Adding a small item re the Parkshaw set, these were also marketed in the USA by the Tatham Stamp & Coin Co of Springfield with an applied label to the front of the envelop, printed in red:

This same company also marketed the Harrisons regalia stamps, as seen above, but I have no information as to if they did the same for the Poster Stamp issue. The Poster Stamp sheets certainly reached the USA and Canada but possibly only by being sent out on an individual basis between UK and USA/Canadian correspondents. Chris

These IODE Coronation labels maybe should not have been included in the original thread as the title was GB labels ...

That said they are an intresting item and given the additional examples that have been shown here, my best guess at this time would be small sheet of 9 labels (arranged 3x3) which it would appear were imperf all round.

That said, it may be that only either the top or bottom margin was imperf, depending on which way round a batch of sheets were when this operation was applied ... as has already been said by others above -- this all just a guess ..

Would be nice to find or see a scan of a strip or block to start pulling the information together, (or a full sheet if anyone knows of such), which would greatly add to the details known

As for the original pictures in this thread, I am aware that there have been problems with the server they are hosted on. If this gets to the point where they need to be relocated, then this is possible but doing so would require revisions to the links and thus would require admin to decide when / if / how we do this - but if needed I will get it sorted.

Nice to see items still turning up on this thread ..

Regards .. ALLAN

Hi, as an aside, I believe that the town of Coronation, in Canada, is the only place on the planet with that name.

Hi
Can someone please help RE the Vallancey set of 60 1937 coronation stamps. I have a partial set, but am trying to put together a complete list of all the titles for each stamp. Assuming the stamps on the sheet are numbered 1 through 60 (King George and Queen Elizabeth is #1, Elizabeth Queen of England is #2, etc), what are the titles for stamps #10, 29, 30, 39, 40, and 59. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

From a recent Grosvenor Auction - Lot: 1301 Sale: 19 King George VI: 1937 Coronation se-tenant sheet of 60 'souvenir stamps' published by Parkshaw Publishing Co., in original envelope. Price Realised ÂŁ48

Is this an anomaly or would this be an accurate range for a full pane?

I have a full pane of Plate 2, with the Parkshaw insert (but no outer envelope) and was going to list it here for sale.....but from all the discussion I've read on these, that seems like a pretty good price!!

Thanks to CindyCan2 for my small part in his listing of the titles of the Vallancey 1937 Coronation labels. :D

As to librarianc's query re the cost of the Parkshaw set I can only add that I bought a set for $40 fairly recently.

However, as librarianc and others would know better than I, the price at auction is a reflection of many factors. The set I got was not perfect, but had a few small perforation tears. The premium for a set in superb condition would be a lot as so many years have passed.

Also many Australian buyers might be taking advantage of the high exchange rate at present. $US and the pound might have seemed a lot more when 48 pounds translated to about $90, rather than the $65 or so it currently commands. NZ is a particularly good proposition in this regard.

Also the prices mentioned in this column are by very knowledgeable people who probably picked up their copies a while ago. I would think that the market for royalty has appreciated in the last decade. Either that or the dealers have tagged me as a "Tragic" and see me coming from a mile away. Regards to all.

A bit more research on this sheet has shown that there were two printings. One for the Canadian market:

and the one above for the USA market
(image borrowed from Internet)

Note the different imprint on the bottom!
