A very nice find GreenGo and real locomotives too!

Now for a very different type of train. Hong Kong issued a set of 4 postage stamps on 26 May 2011 to mark the 150th Anniversary of Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and here is the one concerning transportation.

Surprised these two from Australia Post haven't been added to this listing. Issued 21 February 2012 showing public transport trains from Perth and Sydney.

Those who live in Perth may notice the stamp takes some 'artistic license'. All the rail lines down the middle of the freeway have two rail lines, one for trains going to Perth, and another for trains leaving from Perth. Also, there's no overhead power lines to power the trains.

If I remember correctly, there was an article in The American Philatelist in 2000 or 2001 regarding stamps that looked very similar to the ones pictured. They were used as props in a movie.

Issued by Israel on 6 December 2011. There are no details of the locomotive but a brief description of the line follows.

“The Valley Railway” (Rakevet HaEmek) is the Hebrew nickname for the Haifa branch line of the famed Hijaz Railway, which was built in the latter days of the Ottoman Empire to connect Damascus to Medina and Mecca in the Hijaz region of the Arabian Peninsula. This railway served both religious and military purposes.

The branch line to Haifa was built from 1903-1906, to transport materials imported by sea and required for the construction of the Hijaz Railway’s main line. The branch line relieved the Turkish government of the need to rely on the private railway that already ran from Damascus to Beirut."
