To fundraise for the NZ National Stamp Exhibition,
Kiwipex 2006, in Christchurch, the organising committee arranged for a set of five "
cals" (personalised stamps printed by NZ Post), which they then sold for considerably above face value.
The stamps (all 45c values, then the standard inland letter rate) each show one of the
1906 Christchurch Exhibition stamps, which many folk regard as NZ's first commemorative stamps. The exhibition's theme was "
Centenary of the 1906 Christchurch Exhibition stamps."
Here for sale is the full set, fine used and in clean and tidy condition.
For more details and illustrations and discussion on NZ's "cal" stamps, see the thread here:
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=406&p=2604429&hilit=cals#p2604429These have become
VERY popular in NZ, as they are so elusive, and used selections regularly sell on Trademe and other auctions at well over face value. This is because the client receives the whole edition, then usually uses them on mailouts to their own clients or members.
