Does anyone collect the Nature of America series of stamps?
I like them and would like to hear the thoughts of other collectors about them.

I'm missing some of these. Do you have any extras? Would like to get the one I'm missing. I have extras of some of them.

I'd love to know more about these. Are they stamps or cinderellas?

They're stamps Brummie, issued by the USPS...minisheets as you guys would call them, NOT Cinderellas.

Thank you Timbres, so they would be forever stamps as they have no value on them?

Timbres,
I have a few Arctic Tundra and Pacific Coral reef that I can offer you. Let me know if those are the ones you need. Let me also know the extras you have. I would love to swap.

Brummie,
If you want to know more about them, here is a wikepedia link that might interest you:

Let me check tomorrow and I'll let You know. I need more than I have, but I'd love to complete it.

Brummie - au contraire. They are not forever stamps. They were issued over several years and have differing denominations on each sheet depending on the 1st class rate at the time. Just google it and you'll get lots of info. To me it's one of the most beautiful series the US has ever issued.

These look much better close-up, so if you post an image of each one in a separate message, as big as you can (up to 850 pixels) people will be able to see the detail (and work out just where the 7 or 8 stamps are on each sheet!)

Or make your image on a black background and the perf holes will show.

I would add that used single stamps, cancelled in the year of issue, are extremely hard to find; if your album includes spaces for the singles, good luck with that!

Nevertheless, they are often sold with other discount postage, as they are a nuisance to separate and use individually, and as a sheet, way too large for even the average parcel, much less a letter.

Most of them...I dont have, so cant post a close up. I will post a close up of the one I have. This should be informative to the collectors unfamiliar with this series.
This is what the front and back of a mint sheet look like.

And, here is what the shell looks like after the stamps have been removed.

Image

If you look at this scan close enough the back of the sheet becomes visible in the areas where the stamps have been removed (the light from the scanner makes the sheet appear more transparent than it really is).

If anyone has these shells and is willing to swap it with me for worldwide used stamps, please feel free to make me an offer. I need all shells except the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 9th in this series.

Here is what I usually like to do. I use the stamps as postage, clear the shell, and then subsequently hinge used stamps to the appropriate places like I have done here: :D

Timbres,
Note the Evanston cancellation mark on one of those stamps. Not far from where you live, I presume

Ram ...

This is quite clever & really makes an interesting layout for used stamps. Thanks for sharing.

No, Evanston is not horribly far..don't really go there, but compared to the breadth and width of locations participating on this board it's just a walk away.
