Just a thought, wonder if the 1/2d. orange roos are some deliberate attempt to sell relatively low cost stamps at high prices to dills on the back of Arthur Gray's record breaking real "roo" sales?

Lakatoi ... maybe but that publicity died out months back pretty much.

If they offer THESE things for $15,000 they'll see many of us lining up to buy! :P

Yes, could be but $15K for a 1/2d. orange - you would think there would be some measure of intelligence in all this, then again maybe not.

You would have to be dead not to love that monogram blue & brown though.

What was it knocked down for again Glen?

Glen will be a little annoyed as I'm sure he was intending to snipe it at the last moment...

However all is not lost as I just happen to have a few of these (locked in the vault of course) which I am prepared to sacrifice to the first say 500 or so lucky readers at almost half the price - (Postage Not Included)...

Be Quick These Wont Last !

$A82,500 to a Sydney dealer in the room. ;)

Same dealer bought this better centred JBC for $A75,000 - the stamp on the cover of the superb sale cat in fact.

That stamp almost has me wanting to start collecting Roos .... what fantastic colouring.

Hold me down someone - my bank manager will probably be the first to offer help there.

And yet another Ross Smith fake for sale with an "is it or isn't it real" marketing ploy. I can't be bothered doing a picture, and it only has an hour or so to go.

Currently at $12.50 only, with seven bids !!! Damn the bidders. it's not worth the effort.

Glen, if you follow the link, you need to take the dreaded "." out of "e.bay" in the URL

His feedback says he sold another "not sure" vignette 31 July. Must have a stock of them. Devious bugger

(Remember ebay links need nothing after the lot number posted up)

Same likely con man offered one last week and it got $20.50! Has anyone emailed him to tell him these as 20c reprints with no wmk?

Who says there is no such thing as shill bidding on eBay?

This looks MORE than a little suspicious to ME - Whats a dealer doing placing bids 5 days out from the close of auction anyway - this is beautiful ...

Who knows? Time will tell. ;)

For an allegedly

MLH ABSOLUTELY SUPERB

5/- Bridge it is a shame that stampcollectorboz did not mention that this stamp got THINNED in several places when the hinge was peeled off.

To even suggest to the Bunny Buyers such a stamp (even IF superb) could EVER get $600 retail off real dealers is arguably fraud IMHO.

Looking at that link scurralous posted for stampcollectorboz I see a classic of his.

First you almost certainly KNOW with this seller, the stamps will be defective or horridly centred in some way when you see the stamp on a WHITE background - his Hallmark trick.

£1 Roo Acsc 51Bx~SG14 RED BROWN AND BLUE, 1ST Wmk HAND STAMPED SPECIMEN TYPE A MNNNNNNNNH SUPERB AND RAAAAARE.

THIS IS £1 ROO 1ST WATERMARK RED BROWN AND BLUE HAND STAMPED SPECIMEN TPYE *A*. A beautiful FRESH WITH RICH COLOR UNBELEIVABLE perforations and GREAT centering for this issue. Current retail FOR this stamp is $$2700~$3300. OUTDATED 2004 BW ACSC CV $2250. The market has moved since the catalogue came out. Your bid. This stamp comes with MY CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY AND GUARANTEE.

Now the Fraud Squad should almost be called in for

GREAT centering for this issue.

It is indeed cruddy centering for ANY 1913 stamp. If he showed it on a BLACK background all ebay members would see that the perfs appear to be TOUCHING along the top.

Current retail FOR this stamp is $$2700~$3300.

More utter fiction. With this centering pay half $3300 and you'd be a fool in my view. So when some ebay BUNNY pays $1650 they'll think they are paying "half" retail = not FULL true retail.

This stamp comes with MY CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY AND GUARANTEE.

He is back to this nonsense again I see. He simply cannot issue a CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY - full stop. He is accredited by no-one to do so AFAIK. Highly deceptive and grossly misleading IMHO unless he tels us WHO has accredited him. coff.

I do hope ebay gets wind of some of this so that he is asked to stop making that totally fallacious claim that he used to do a lot more a year or so back, re issuing "Certificates".

Auction has 6 days to go - let's hope he amends his description to bring it back to reality.

I will include this one on the thread. Bid at $29.95, BIN at $99.00. The item offered is not the cover for which the big bucks are needed to purchase - the "Official" AP FDC. It is just a plain envelope with a first day cancellation, and as such, is worth the price of a used strip of 5, with maybe a few cents for the FDI cancellation.

SMALL CAPTAIN COOK ENVELOPE
POSTMARKED 20th APRIL 1970
AT EAST BENTLEIGH IN VICTORIA

NOT EASILY FOUND UNADRESSED
OR WITH A STRIP OF 5

MAINLY FOUND WITH THE 30c COOK STAMP

THIS PARTICULAR ENVELOPE IS QUITE SCARCE

Here is a genuine Australia Post "small" Cook cover.

Given the sellers history and feedback, I doubt that this is intentional, but people really should do some research before offering penny items at big dollars.
