Does anyone know why this would happen, or how to fix it?

Ah, you have what's commonly referred to as the "blue screen of death" (or shortened as BSOD):?

There can be a number of reasons for this including a corrupt registry, conflicts, hardware problems, etc.

after the Blue haze comes the RED HAZE and you should not be about when that strikes,that causes all sort of objects to start flying about,makes you talk in tongues.and become very aggressive with others
