Mine this week is mainly Bauhaus - Crackle (Best Of), Theatre of Hate - Retribution Over Thee (Live), and The Hold Steady - Stay Positive.

Next week, who knows?

My playlist is way too big to list here, however there's a lot of everything at the moment. Apart from my beloved Iron Maiden and other metal bands, I have Frank Sinatra and a few jazz fusion songs playing.

Judy Live at Carnegie Hall

I recently acquired the CD which contains the full 196i concert rather than the exceprted vinyl copies (which were restricted due to space limitations).

It is a superb recreation of what I believe was the greatest one woman concert in history (with respect to Barbra), and will suffer through quite a few repeat listenings.

Listened to Kirsty MacColl - Tropical Brainstorm earlier. Sadly, her last album, but a great one to finish with...

I predict a few more plays of that in the coming days

Great idea for a thread Gavin!

Bruce Springsteen's Seeger Sessions album is fantastic and playing at the moment
and
Kenny Wayne Shepherd: blues guitar from a guy as young as this is awesome, and listening to it while cracking open a can of beer and watching the sun set behind the mountain at the back of my apartment...priceless!

This week (so far) my playlist consists of Eddie and the Hot Rods - The End of the Beginning (Best of) and Beserk Times (Alive Over Germany) which is a live album recorded in 1978 consisting of artists signed to the Beserkley label (Greg Kihn, the Rubinoos, Earth Quake and the Tyla Gang). Also, the Rubinoos - All you ever wanted to know about...

Hi All,

I'm listening to many different music styles. Recently I listen to the best of Mike Batt, especially "The ride to Agadir". Nice Rhythm.

Besides this I like heavy metal ballads, French chansons, African songs and Irish folk; German songwriters and "The Beds are Burning" by Midnight Oil.

Regards, Lars

Sorry for the delay, Norm.........this one kinda got away from me........

Here is the playlist - VINYL of course:

Now that I actually look at the artists, MoTown wasn't represented here. Those groups were just making their mark in music when this was released. They did get some early Detroit sound in here though....

Some nice stuff their though John. It does bring back fond memories of my early "rock star" days when we picked up a few of these for our locally famous band.

The main song on my playlist is "Before the Worst" by The Script. Heard the song about 4 days ago and am already in love with it. :D
Along with that is some Rammstein (Nice German rock band) and Linkin Park.

"Lungs" by Florence and the Machine.

She's got a voice like crystal and does a great version of "You've Got the Love". In fact, I'd say it's that rarity - an album without a weak track

"Gordon" by the Barenaked Ladies at the moment.

Some classic early '90s tracks, such as "If I had $1,000,000" and "Box Set", and some quirky clever lyrics.

They've released several albums since, but this is still my favourite.

Currently listening to the soundtrack from a strangely compulsive and relatively deep movie called "The Watchmen".

What a great eclectic mixture of music:

My Chemical Romance - Desolation Row
Nat King Cole - Unforgettable
Dylan -The Times They Are A Changin' (an all time classic 8) )
Simon & Garfunkel - Sounds of Silence
Janis - Me & Bobby McGee (she died too young :( )
KC & The Sunshine Band - I'm Your Boogie Man
Billie Holiday - You're My Thrill
The Philip Glass Ensemble - Pruit Igoe & Prophecies
Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah (Len's still going strong :D )
Jimi - All Along The Watchtower (he died too young :( - this has to have the best start to a song I know of :!: )
Budapest Symphony Orchestra - Ride of the Valkyries
Nina Simone - Pirate Jenny

Watching ABC2 now and Stevie Winwood and Eric Clapton are dueting on "Had to Cry today" in a concert. MAGIC.

Winwood's voice 45 years on is still quite superb.

My iTunes has nearly 3000 tracks stored giving 8 days of various music which plays at random - except when I choose something specific. Any track I don't want to hear I just press f9 and move to the next one.

The library ranges alphabetically from Adam Faith to Zizi Kongo via Yehudi Menuhin, Storebaeltsforbindelsen (which looks like it should be a Danish postmark but is a folk group), Louis Armstrong, Jools Holland, Katie Melua, Courtney Pine, The Dubliners, Fleetwood Mac, Leroy Anderson, The Strawbs, & Madness.

All AC/DC, especialy the early years with Bon Scott as singer.

Quote:
"Gordon" by the Barenaked Ladies at the moment.

Some classic early '90s tracks, such as "If I had $1,000,000" and "Box Set", and some quirky clever lyrics.

Interesting story about The Bare Naked Ladies
Back when they where an indie band they where booked to do the New Years celebration at city hall in Toronto, the then Mayor June Rowlands took a hissy fit over the name of the band and canceled them. No one ever heard about them prior to this, they where selling thier own CD's at the shows they did and where completely independant. After the publicity the Mayor gave them from complaining about the bands name (being sexist and all) they flew to the top of the charts.

Tarja Turunen: My Winter Storm
A very nice mixture of hard rock, Wagner and opera. Anyone who likes Nightwish or DreamTheater is bound to love this

If anybody wants to hear some clips, head yourself to http://www.mywinterstorm.com and turn on your speakers.

On my 2 hour trip to work on the train I get plenty of time to listen to music when I am out of 'web range'.

Tonight on my way to do battle with the drunken reprobates it is Jethro Tull.

At the moment I've got a couple of Ministry of Sound Annuals (2008 and 2009) on rotation...

...and I've just ordered the 2010 Annual.

As Mrs-H would say: "It's all Boom Boom Boom and you can't understand a word they're saying"
