I inherited a large collection of stamps both in a collectors album and lots of loose stamps, they appear to have been collected from the late 1800s until around 1950s and contain stamps from all over the world.

I am very keen to get the collection valued but have no idea what to do and worry about handing it over to a stranger.

I have taken a couple of pics of the collection in case that makes it easier: Here is the first page of the GB section:

The first stamp is an 1840 Penny Black, and the second an 1841 Two pence blue. Could you post a larger scan and maybe a scan of the back for these two?

If you have a page of Malta stamps, I would be interested in seeing them. :)

Tracy:

Welcome to Stampboards. It looks like you've got the right idea for posting some images to allow members here to assist you.

If I may suggest.............here are a couple more pages that could be shown:

Great Britain - Page 2
Canada - Page 1
Germany - Page 1
China - Page 1
Australia - Page 1
New Zealand - Page 1
France - Page 1
USA - page 1

The reason I selected these countries is that there are some more classic issues that may well have been added to your collection, which would allow the members to determine the level of collector who put the album together. There are, of course, many classics from many more countries, but this may give a representation of the type of material that could be present throughout the album(s).

Keep posting the images and others will chime in to offer assistance!

John A
